The 2020.5 SsangYong Rexton is Korea's Luxurious Answer to Your Typical 7-Seater SUV (w/ Specs)

SsangYong Philippines introduces the refreshed Rexton SUV. An alternative to the usual Japanese 7-seater mid-sized SUV choices, the changes to the 2020.5 (the official model year designation) adds more majestic styling along with new convenience and luxury features.

Changes to the Rexton starts with the headlight bezel, which is now finished in Titanium Gray. The metallic luster of the new headlight housing is further accentuated by the new honeycomb grille. A new color, Marble Gray joins the 2020.5 line-up along with Atlantic Blue, Fine Silver, Grand White, and Space Black.

Inside, the 2020.5 Rexton now adds seat ventilation as standard on both the 4x2 and 4x4 variants. The changes are capped off by a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 6 speakers, LED interior lighting, and a 220-volt outlet. The 4x4 model continues this year with its brown quilted leather interior, but adds a smart hands-free power tailgate and new key fob design.

The Rexton continues this year with a comprehensive list of safety features with up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, as well as stability control and hill descent control. Front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera is standard on both models.

Mechanically, the Rexton continues unchanged. Power comes from a 2.2-liter e-XDi 220 diesel engine making 181 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed automatic with a drive mode selector.

Heightening the value and ownership of every Rexton purchase, SsangYong Philippines has also announced that each 2020.5 model will now come with a free 5-year Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) along with its existing 5-year Vehicle Warranty.

2020.5 SsangYong Rexton owners will appreciate the longer duration of its worry-free maintenance which will include the cost of oil, parts, and labor for each of the scheduled PMS intervals for the next 5 years, or up to 100,000-kilometers, whichever comes first.

“We are proud to reveal the most exclusive SsangYong SUV yet—the 2020.5 Rexton,” shares Japheth Castillo, president of SsangYong Philippines. “Our customers deserve a nameplate that not only comes with the confidence-inspiring ability of driving through any type of road surface, but doing so in style and refined comfort. The new SsangYong Rexton will surely deliver a more luxurious presence on the road and an even more value-laden ownership experience for our most discerning SUV clientele.”

The 2020.5 Rexton comes in two variants: the Rexton 4x2 priced at P 1.76-million, and the Rexton 4x4 priced at P 2.260-million.

It’s now available for viewing at all Auto Asia outlets: Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Otis, Manila; Davao; Cagayan de Oro; General Santos; and Butuan.
