Toyota Motor PH Recalling Select Avanza, Veloz, Yaris Cross For Front Shock Issue

Yet another recall is affecting select units of the Toyota Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross in the Philippines. This time, it has something to do with its front shock absorber.

After the Avanza and Veloz were recalled due to insufficient welds in their side-impact beams last January, this time a select number of the same models and the Yaris Cross need to have their front shock absorber tightened.

It was determined that affected vehicles have improperly tightened front shock absorber nuts, particularly the upper portions. If the vehicle is operated continuously in this condition, it may cause the nuts to come completely loose causing abnormal noise. In case that the nuts do come off completely, it will result in the loss of vehicle stability.

The corrective action is simple: Toyota dealers will inspect and correctly tighten the front shock absorber nuts. In case they find missing or damaged parts in the front shock absorber area, they will be replaced at no cost to customers. The fix will take no more than one hour.

See list below for affected units:
  • Toyota Avanza / Veloz – 36,930 units (Produced January 7, 2022 to September 4, 2023)
  • Toyota Yaris Cross – 3,378 units (Produced May 29, 2023 to September 4, 2023)

    1. Yes, they're all made in Indonesia. Kung dito yan gagawin, it would require additional investments, bureaucracy, and another plant para mangyari yan.

  4. All car manufacturers have issues with their vehicles but sometimes they're hiding it. Chinese cars are the most headache in overseas . For now we don't see it here due to poor sales and low volume of buyers.

  6. First they cheated on safety ratings, now it's poor workmanship. The end of the so-called Toyota reliability?

  9. DNGA Yaris Cross isn't a safe vehicle that's why Toyota won't let it be crash tested..Avanza is also an unsafe vehicle.
Better buy something from Mitsubishi or Chinese car brands.
