So, you’re thinking of getting your first SUV, and you’re combing through all the details. You want something that offers everyday practicality that’s easy-to-own, maintain, and above all, offers some peace of mind. Your search could very well end with the BYD Atto 2. This newest offering from BYD Cars Philippines not only ticks all the right boxes, but also offers you the power of choice. Whether you’re looking to go plug-in hybrid or pure electric, the Atto 2 offers you the chance to go electric in two ways.
Going electric has never been easier. BYD has found the magic formula by combining their electric-first powertrain with a compact, yet stylish SUV body style.
The Atto 2 EV is powered by a single permanent magnet synchronous motor that drives the front wheels. It puts out an impressive 177 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. And with a 45.1-kWh BYD Blade Battery, the Atto 2 EV has a range of 380 kilometers (NEDC). Charging can be done with the widely accepted CCS Type 2 plug offering 7 kW of AC charging and 65 kW of DC charging. It also has V2L or Vehicle to Load functionality essentially transforming the Atto 2 EV into a large power bank that can power up small appliances.
For those who’re looking to dip their toes in the electrified driving experience, there’s the Atto 2 DM-i. The electric first driving experience means having 165 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque available. A 7.9 kWh LFP battery offers 45 kilometers of all electric range. This is supplemented by a 1.5-liter high-efficiency generator upping the range to a combined 1,045-kilometer total.
The Atto 2 EV looks chic and fashionable. It features full LED exterior lighting as well as heated power adjustable and folding sideview mirrors. Over to each corner are 16-inch alloy wheels.
There are four colors on offer on the EV—Ski White, Harbour Gray, Midnight Blue, and Breeze Green as the hero color.
Visually, not much separates the Atto 2 DM-i from its EV sibling. It does have a unique front grille with a larger middle opening. It keeps its charging port on the right front fender, but adds a gas cap on the left rear quarter. The DM-i Premium variant also rides on larger 17-inch alloy wheels.
There are also four colors on offer for the DM-i—Ski White, Harbour Gray, Cosmos Black, and Midnight Blue serving as the hero color.
With its black and beige colorway, the Atto 2 EV has this airy, homey atmosphere. The soft-touch material elevates the cabin feel and complements the 6-way power adjust driver’s seat.
Yet, as with other BYD models, technology takes centerstage here. You get an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen with 6 speakers, and smartphone connectivity courtesy of built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has an automatic climate control and plenty of storage compartments to go around.
The Atto 2 DM-i sports a similar cabin architecture but with a different shifter location and a sportier all-black colorway. High-quality fabric seats as well as the removal of the power driver’s seat adjustment and rotating infotainment screen are also some of the notable changes from the EV.
Both the Atto 2 EV and Atto 2 DM-i offer the flexibility of a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. With the rear seats up, it has a 433-liter trunk capacity, growing to 1,335 liters with the rear seats folded down.
Despite its size, the Atto 2 EV comes with plenty of safety and security features. These include 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and a Brake Override System.
And if you’re unsure about your parking skills, a 360-degree camera with See-Through Mode as well as front and rear parking sensors on the Premium variants.
On the BYD Atto 2 DM-i Premium, it comes with DiPilot ADAS offering functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning (FCW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Assistance (LDA), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and more.
Owners of both the Atto 2 EV and Atto 2 DM-i enjoy a low cost of ownership. The 5-year PMS cost for the DM-i variants cost around P 63,529.79—equating to as much as 36 percent savings versus competing models. On the other hand, the Atto 2 EV enjoys an even lower 5-year PMS cost. For an entire five years of ownership, it comes out at around P 30,187.20.
And thanks to a comprehensive suite of vehicle warranties—a 6-year vehicle warranty and an 8-year battery and motor warranty, customers have peace of mind whether they pick to go DM-i or EV.
The BYD Atto 2 comes in a total of three variants. With these prices, it comes with a free home wall charger and a free portable charger as well:

ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. We're just a dumping ground for BYD's older models. I mean, they just launched the more than two year-old Sealion 7 recently. Now, they launch the more than two year-old Atto 2 and we're not even getting the newer version that's available elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteWith this car, BYD can discontinue the Seagull (close in price but inferior in capability) and the Dolphin (close in price and the interior is outdated). Or they could re-price the Seagull to actually slug it out with Wigo and Brio.
ReplyDeleteOh man, a Seagull priced at around the low 700k range of the top of the line Wigo would kill. After savings from fuel, monthly payments would be around 9k (electricity included) vs 15k (fuel included assuming around 15k km yearly mileage) of the Wigo for a 60 month loan.
DeletePricy, at 1.3M you can get the base Geely EX5 dm i and Changan Nevo q05 net of discount and both are newer models.
