Half-jokingly referred to as the new “Innova” because of its ubiquity, BYD may soon find a way to make it even more common. Based on documents submitted to the Department of Energy, a new entry-level variant, the Sealion 6 DM-i Dynamic, may soon reach BYD showrooms.

Mechanically, the 2027 Sealion 6 DM-i Dynamic as the model’s referred to, packs the very same Super DM-i powertrain that’s made the current Sealion 6 DM-i a big hit. It offers a combined 217 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque (25 Nm less peak torque than the current Sealion 6) and thanks to an 18.3-kWh BYD Blade Battery, an all-electric range of up to 100 kilometers (1,200 kilometers with a full tank of gas in its 60-liter tank).

Charging is limited to Type 2 AC charging where it can be topped up from 15 to 100 percent in 2.8 hours. Meanwhile, the 2027 Sealion 6 DM-i Premium adds the ability to DC fast charge. Capped off at a rate of 18 kW, it takes just 30 minutes from a 30 to 80 percent charge.

It also sports very similar exterior and interior feature sets such as auto on/off LED lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels, and even panoramic glass roof. The difference? The removal of the sound absorbing front glass and privacy rear glass found in the Sealion 6 DM-i Premium.

The differences between the Dynamic and Premium are more drastic inside. There’s less creature comfort features such as the removal of the rain-sensing wipers, powered lumbar support for the driver’s seat, ambient interior lighting, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 4 speakers (6 from 10), wireless chargers, and a smaller rotating infotainment screen (12.8-inch from 15.6-inch).

Also being omitted in the Dynamic variant are front clearance sensors and the DiPilot ADAS system. With that, it receives just a conventional cruise control system.
