Inchcape Philippines Sells Mazda Retail Operations

Inchcape Philippines, through one of its retail arms, ICATS Asian Motors Inc., and Mazda Philippines (Bermaz Auto Philippines Inc.) announced that ICATS Asian Motors Inc. has entered into an agreement to sell its Mazda Pasig C5 retail operations to Bermaz Auto Philippines Inc. effective August 1, 2026.

Throughout the transition period, ICATS Asian Motors and Bermaz Auto Philippines will work closely together to support continuity for customers, partners and employees and to ensure a seamless transition of the Mazda Pasig C5 retail operations in Metro Manila.

For Inchcape Philippines, the move to sell the retail business is part of its disciplined and strategic approach to active portfolio management, ensuring the business remains focused on the brands, capabilities and market opportunities best aligned with its long-term strategic priorities in the Philippines.

For Bermaz Auto Philippines, the transition reflects its commitment to the Mazda brand, the dealership network, and most importantly, the Mazda customers and its intention to support the brand’s next chapter in the Philippine market.

Alex Hammett, Managing Director, South Asia & Pacific, Inchcape, said, “This transition reflects a shared commitment to ensuring continuity for customers, partners and employees while supporting the ongoing success of the Mazda brand in the Philippines. For Inchcape, it is also consistent with our disciplined approach to portfolio management, allowing us to focus our resources on opportunities that best align with our long-term strategic priorities.”

Steven Tan, CEO & President, Mazda Philippines, said, “We appreciate the partnership with Inchcape Philippines in supporting this transition and are committed to ensuring continuity for customers, partners and employees. We look forward to continue building on Mazda’s presence in the market and supporting the brand’s continued development in the Philippines.”

All parties remain focused on ensuring a smooth transition process, with further details to be shared with relevant stakeholders as plans are finalized.

    1. Im not sure what your exact experience was but C5 is my go to branch when the closest to me is Makati.

    2. Same. I have really good experience in C5. QAve was where we bought our CX5 but C5 is now my go-to mazda.

Magpapaka toxic and attitude ako tulad ng ibang commentaries dito sa carguide, so baka it's YOU problem, not a service manager problem hahaha

  2. Mazda is dead in the water in this market. I saw a dealership filled to the brim with stocks while the Vinfast dealership near it had nothing to show because they were quickly sold out

    1. No point in getting mazdas since they are outdated and expensive. The Chinese cars are cheaper and better.

    2. Cheaper and better? Lol. No Chinese car still comes close to the driving dynamics of Mazda. Chinese cars feel floaty and soft in comparison. Most also use synthetic leather as opposed to the high quality leather used in Mazdas.

    3. Mazda’s are too expensive for the Philippine market. The average Filipino car buyer just can’t afford them. It’s unfortunate since they make great, reliable cars.

    4. Mazda has its own bubble and followers. You can daily drive an affordable and good built chinese car and still own a mazda just because. So, if you're saying that chinese cars are eating mazda sales, that could be true for some who just wants a car from point A to B, but not 100% for all.

If you find something expensive, in this case Mazda cars, then you don't see the value and you're not the target market

    1. The email address does not work! I have been trying to contact Mazda ph directly, but it is so difficult to get a hold of anyone. We have been waiting for a door lock actuator for almost 2 months now from Mazda C5, the door lock actuator broke down a day after being serviced, which made me think that the dealership is cannibalizing parts from other cars being serviced because of the difficulty in getting parts. I hope that is not the case.

    3. Try sending an email to that address now, and tell me if it passes through.

  5. Jumping ship to where products are selling. Going upmarket is tricky enough in a cheap oil environment but recent pandemic, wars and retaliatory trade barriers made it difficult for Mazda. They should have brought in more Diesels and PHEVs to stay relevant in PH.

  6. Mazda makes good cars, as good as or sometimes even better than Toyota and Honda.

But we are at the age of Chinese NEVs where the value-for-money proposition is real for Chinese cars.

I hope that Toyota, Honda, and Mazda continue to manufacture good vehicles as at a much lower price point 7 still remain profitable.

    1. Mazda makes good cars but BYD, Geely, and Gac make great cars.

  7. Will Mazda Pasig continue to operate in the Inchcape Compound at C5 or will they be moving to a different location in the near future?
