Lexus Philippines takes the next step in launching the refreshed RZ all-electric luxury SUV. And surprisingly, the first variant to get its LTO homologation approved is the entry-level RZ 350e.
Replacing the RZ 300e in the RZ line-up (the RZ 350e, RZ 500e, and RZ 600e F Sport also got DOE approval), the RZ 350e gets a single front-mounted motor producing 224 horsepower (160 kW) and 269 Nm of torque driving the front wheels.
Like all upgraded Lexus RZ models and the Toyota bZ4X, the RZ 350e gets a larger lithium-ion battery pack. The 71.4 kWh (77 kWh gross) capacity allows for an impressive 600 kilometers of range—the highest among locally available Lexus and Toyota models. Moreover, a new battery pre-conditioning function is standard improving its DC charging times.
Performance-wise, the RZ 350e should reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.
Upgraded battery aside, the RZ 350e also benefits from better quietness thanks to added sound deadening and the use of a new high-damping adhesive in the floor. Even the tonneau cover hasn’t escaped scrutiny which now comes with an additional soundproofing felt layer.
According to its LTO paperwork, the RZ 350e gets standard 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Aside from that, none else has been revealed.
In other markets, the RZ 350e is fully loaded despite being an entry-level model. It does get things like LED headlights with auto high beam, a digital-type rearview mirror, an 8-inch TFT driver’s display, a 14-inch touch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and 10 speakers, synthetic leather seats, a power tilt/telescopic steering column, dual zone climate control with Lexus Climate Concierge, power front seats with ventilation, a power tailgate.
With the RZ finally receiving its LTO homologation approved, it’s going to just be a matter of time before it hits retail sales. In terms of timing, it could be launched as early as this August alongside the all-new Lexus ES.
Chinese Brands has heads up on EV’s but sooner than later everybody’s will catch up. By then legacy brands has the advantage of having ICE, hybrid and EV’s in their stores
