2019 Jimny is Now Priced and Available at All Suzuki Auto Dealerships (w/ 17 Photos, Brochure)

After a lengthy tease, Suzuki Philippines is now officially unveiling the all-new, fourth-generation Jimny. Continuing its nameplate’s world-renowned attribute of having a simple yet rugged design, this all-new small SUV is destined not just to conquer city streets, but any trail or jungle as well.

“Our determination to provide simple, straightforward, and functional vehicles such as the Suzuki Jimny All-Grip Pro underscores our commitment to continuously provide innovation that Filipinos can rely on. Every detail of the fourth-generation Jimny—from the body to the engine—is designed to deliver the maximum performance and durability required by serious off-road travelers. With this newest addition to our lineup of vehicles, more Filipinos can explore more challenges and adventures,” said SPH Director and Automobile Division General Manager Keiichi Suzuki.

The foundations of the 2019 Jimny is a robust ladder-on-frame construction that uses zinc-coated steel and a thicker undercoating to protect it against the elements. Attached to both ends are rigid three-link solid axles for better off-road traction and long-travel coil springs for added comfort.

With its All-Grip Pro 4WD system, the Jimny can switch between 4WD and 2WD to achieve optimal off-road performance without sacrificing fuel economy and cornering on paved roads. Together with its short overhangs and ultra-compact frame, it can climb over obstacles thanks to its 37-degree approach, 28-degree ramp breakover, and 49-degree departure angle. And when the going gets extra tough, it can rely on its stability control system which integrates Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, and a brake-based Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

The 2019 Jimny combines both form and functionality into a strong aesthetic that’s proven to be a global design hit. For example, the 2019 World Car Design of the Year finalist has square wheel arches to allow for easier tire changes, molded black bumpers and wheel arch extension to help block rocks from scratching the painted body panels, and the iconic road headlights have been separated to allow independent replacement.

The interior mirrors the same simple and straightforward approach. The black color motif has been chosen to minimize distraction while the functional parts like center switches and dials are in metallic colors for ease of use. Even the instrument panel and surrounding parts, including the steering wheel are all scratch- and stain-resistant.

Also benefitting city dwellers, the Jimny boasts of wider (70 mm) and taller (50 mm) front seats for added comfort. Thicker sound insulation is used for better comfort and the cargo hold is now bigger, enabling this SUV to carry 53 liters more luggage than before. Finally, it even comes with a 9-inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment system fitted with offline GPS navigation.

In terms of performance, the 2019 Jimny comes with one engine: the 1.5-liter K15B engine which delivers more power and torque than the previous Jimny. This is attached to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Those opting for the three-pedal set-up with enjoy a lighter flywheel for better engine response and improved NVH.

The prices of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny All-Grip Pro start at P 975,000 for the base GL M/T while the GL A/T is at P 1,035,000. The top-of-the-line GLX model (only available in AT) start at P 1,085,000 for the mono-tone, while the two-tone variant tops out at P 1,095,000. Variant dependent, it comes in a dazzling array of colors: Solid Kinetic Yellow, Metallic Brisk Blue, Metallic Chiffon Ivory, Pearl Bluish Black, Solid Medium Gray, Metallic Silky Silver, Superior White, and Solid Jungle Green.

For those who want to see the 2019 Jimny themselves, it will go on a public tour starting at the Bonifacio Global City this weekend. This is followed by another one Eastwood Central Plaza and the last one at the UP Town Center Amphitheater.

  1. The guys at the Suzuki exhibition in BGC said that the units would only be available in July 2019 which was the original date. Is this correct?
