Toyota Just Sold Out the 2019 Production Run of the Supra

Say what you want about the first all-new Supra in 17 years, but one thing’s for certain: it’s sold out for its entire 2019 production run, at least in the Western Hemisphere where order books have been opened for quite some time. With that, customers will have to wait for reservation lists to open once more for 2020 deliveries.

For the U.S., that totals 1,500 units wrapped in a special Launch Edition package. This means a choice between three colors: Absolute Zero White, Nocturnal Black, or Renaissance Red 2.0, and have either red or black interiors with carbon fiber accents. It’s even made more collectible since all of these cars bear the signature of Toyota’s President Akio Toyoda.

For Europe, it’s even more limited. With only 90 examples available, the GR Supra A90 Edition model is finished in matte Storm Gray and fitted with 19-inch matte black alloy wheels. It has a red-themed interior, similar to the U.S. model.

While the remaining 810 Supras in Europe don’t have the same special color scheme, owners will continue to have special perks and benefits including experience programs and a number of “money-can’t-buy rewards” according to Toyota.

It must be recalled that the most immediate predecessor of the current Supra, the A80 is enjoying tremendous success in the second-hand car market selling for close to P 6.36 million in some cases. Toyota hopes to replicate that success with the A90 Supra. The first model, with VIN # 1, recently sold for a record P 110 million at an auction.

Though Toyota Motor Philippines has yet to give official word on whether they will offer the Supra for sale locally, the whispers are strong that they will bring it in as a limited edition halo model similar to what Honda did with the Civic Type R.
