Mitsubishi Motors PH Adjusts All-New Triton Prices Ahead Of January 26 Official Launch

Leading up to its official Philippine market launch on January 26, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has adjusted the price of the Triton’s top-of-the-line variant, the Athlete 4WD AT, to make it more competitive in its segment.

As a refresher, when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines laid down the full specs and prices of the Triton last October, the Triton Athlete 4WD AT was priced at P 1,915,000. However, five days before its official launch, the price was adjusted downward by P 6,000 to P 1,909,000.

The Triton Athlete 4WD AT comes with a Euro 5-compliant 2.4-liter direct-injected turbo diesel engine. The 4N16 here gets a two-stage turbo giving it 204 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 470 Nm from 1,500 to 2,750 rpm. This is mated solely to a 6-speed automatic.

Riding on a tougher, more durable frame, the Triton Athlete 4WD marries comfort and off-road capability. It’s been rigorously tested for increased strength and reduced weight and comes with a new shock absorber system for a more pliant ride even on harsh terrains. Its all-terrain capability is backed up by Mitsubishi’s Super Select-II 4WD system with, get this, a rear locking differential for the first time and seven drive modes.

Inside, the Triton Athlete 4WD AT has improved comfort and space with features that include orange synthetic leather seats with black quilted suede inserts, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, 7-inch color LCD gauge cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual zone climate control, automatic LED headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.

For safety, the Triton Athlete 4WD AT comes with a full suite of advanced driver assist systems including Forward Collision Mitigation System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Emergency Assist for Pedal Misapplication. This is on top of 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Active Stability and Traction Control, Active Yaw Control, and parking sensors all around.

In the greater scheme of things, this price adjustment is small. However, it also shows you the competitiveness of the pickup truck segment, especially in the highly lucrative, high margin lifestyle trims.

As reference, this is how the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton prices look like now:

  1. Other publications insist that the GLX 4WD is automatic, when clearly in Mitsubishi's website it is manual. Atleast this site verifies their facts 👍

  2. There seems to be a lot of space in price between the Athlete and the next variant in line, the GLS 2WD. I'm pretty sure that depending on the success of these variants, MMPC might add additional configurations for the Athlete like 2WDs or manuals (hopefully still with EPS and the bi-turbo engine).
