This is it, folks. Toyota Motor Philippines has just teased the arrival of the all-new Vios Hybrid. Or should we now call it, the Ativ HEV?
Posted on their official social media channels, the carmaker showed off a headlight along with the caption, “Achieve The Electrified Vision.” The headlight in question matches the all-new Vios (AC100). While the blue letters of the caption spells out, “Ativ.”

The move likely means that Toyota Motor Philippines will discontinue the Vios nameplate, a nameplate the carmaker has been using for almost 25 years. More likely, however, is that they will sell the all-new Vios (now known as the Ativ) and the current body Vios simultaneously. This isn’t something new to the carmaker as they have done it with the Zenix and the Innova.
In Thailand, where the Ativ HEV was first launched, it’s powered by the same engine found in the Yaris Cross HEV. The 1.5-liter 2NR-VEX 4-cylinder engine makes a combined output of 111 horsepower—91 horsepower and 121 Nm from the combustion engine and 80 horsepower and 141 Nm from the electric motor. This is mated to an E-CVT, while electrical power is supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack. Toyota reckons it can do up to 29.4 km/L based on the UN R101 fuel testing standards.
In Thailand, the Activ HEV comes in two variants: the Ativ HEV Premium and the Ativ GR Sport.
The exterior design of the HEV Premium model features a dark chrome upper grille, a metallic grey lower grille, and newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior is fully equipped with convenient functions, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless charger, and an automatic climate control with rear air vents and PM2.5 filter.
Meanwhile, HEV GR Sport model, it offers a sleek, sporty aesthetic with a newly-designed front grille featuring the GR logo and a full GR-S body kit, which includes front bumper skirt, side skirt set, rear bumper skirt and rear spoiler, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof with black power-adjustable side mirrors with LED turn signals and automatic folding. The interior features black synthetic leather seats with the GR logo and a 6-speaker Pioneer sound system. The driving experience is made even more thrilling with a specially tuned suspension and Electric Power Steering (EPS).
Both models receive Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) that’s been upgraded with Lane Keeping Control (LKC). This is on top of 6 SRS airbags, electronic stability control, blind spot monitors with rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and dash cam.
The Ativ HEV will likely see a Philippine market launch towards the end of 2025, perhaps as early as September or October. Keep your eyes peeled for more details on this development.
Most likely Toyota ph wont the ditch the name vios. Vios HEV, like altis HEV and corolla cross HEV
ReplyDeleteMaybe the vios made in ph will maintain the current specs and still be called vios and the higher model imported from thailand will be called ATIV or vios ATIV. Same as avanza and veloz
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming this would be the setup for Vios and Ativ. Specifically, the Vios will only be limited to the 1.3 grades (J, XE, XLE), then the Ativ will be this 1.5 grade that will replace the Vios 1.5 G grade.
DeleteOTOH, I just hope the 1.3 XLE of Vios would get LED lights and make it look like a G except for the wheels.
Keeping the current Vios alive would most likely happen.

ReplyDeleteMy hunch is around P 1-1.2M for the Ativ. It will go head-to-head with the Honda City. And then, sky_h1hr is right. they will likely discontinue the Vios 1.5 G.

DeleteEither this called purely as "Ativ" only (like Avanza and Veloz) or like the Innova Zenix, this could be badged as the "Vios Ativ" while marketing it as "Ativ" only. I think Toyota should do the latter as the Vios nameplate is popular (an understatement, considering the Vios has been the best selling vehicle in the Philippines for a very very long time)
ReplyDeleteLikely Vios Ativ on the badge, but Ativ in terms of marketing. Maybe similar to the Zenix. It has the Innova Zenix badge on the tailgate, but marketing-wise, it's only called Zenix.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to be like the Zenix-Innova situation. I think that will be most likely imported and marketed as a more premium model simply as the “Ativ” and will be sold alongside the locally-assembled Vios.
ReplyDeleteI concur that the Vios-Ativ dynamic will be similar to Innova-Zenix but I'm hoping that it won't be long before all Vioses gain the Ativ suffix just like what happened with the Corolla Altis.

DeleteThe Vios 1.5 G is the most well-rounded car available. It would be a sad day when it's gone. I hope Toyota keeps the current lineup to make more entry-level choices available to buyers.

DeleteHere's a wild take. The current Gen Vios will be the last Vios produced by toyota here in the Philippines. The next sedan to be produced locally is a wigo/raize based dnga sedan that's about the size of the mitsibishi mirage/first gen Vios. They could use the same Wa-VE 1.2 liter engine from the raize for this one to satisfy our local market.

ReplyDelete"Shortly"? Yep, 3 whole years after Thailand's launch. Even Cambodia and Laos have the latest Ativ Vios. PH is the LAST country in ASEAN to get this generation.

ReplyDeleteCan't even run 1km, especially uphill. Heck, we have portable power stations from Bluetti and Ecoflow that have a bigger capacity than these glorified powerbanks that Toyota uses for its HEVs. Electric Viking is correct, the Jap legacy brands are 15 years behind the Chinese EV tech.
