This is GM's New Logo

General Motors, the parent company of brands like Chevrolet and Cadillac is so committed to its zero-emissions push that it used the occasion to re-design its logo. Now, they’re sort of reminding people that they make appliances on four wheels. If you’re not convinced, take a gander at their new logo on top.

The first time they updated their logo since 1964, GM says the new all lower-case logo is made for a “digital-first environment.” According to the carmaker, the use of blue tones throughout signifies not just their familiar square logo, but is evocative of “clean skies of a zero-emissions future.” The rounded edges are supposed to make it feel more inclusive. Meanwhile, the underline of the “m” is a nod to the previous GM logo, while the negative space in it is supposed to look like a household plug.

Though the official logo is the one with the gradients (see above), solid colored versions of the logo, as well as a simple black-and-white one will be used for marketing materials as well.

Speaking about marketing, along with the new logo, GM is debuting a new campaign to promote its upcoming line of 30 all electric vehicles by the end of 2025.

Who do you think comes out on top in the Car logo wars? GM or Kia?
