2024 Lotus Emeya Wants To Take On The Porsche Taycan

Lotus has unveiled the Emeya—its first four-door “hyper GT.” It brings the British carmaker (now owned by Geely)’s 75-year expertise in engineering and design together with an all-electric powertrain.

At the heart of the Emeya’s innovations is an active aero system where the front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler all work together. Moreover, a low center of gravity, dubbed “hyperstance” by Lotus, and electronically controlled air suspension increases its handling and stability without any detriment to ride refinement and smoothness.

The Emeya packs a dual electric motor system producing up to 905 horsepower and 985 Nm of torque. This allows it to achieve a top speed of 256 km/h, 0 to 100 km/h of under 2.8 seconds, and 80 to 120 km/h in less than two seconds.

Providing owners the confidence when they’re traveling, the Emeya will have the same sort of range as the Eletre SUV. It can add 150 kilometers of range with just five minutes of charging using a 350-kW DC fast charger. Its 102-kWh battery can be boosted up to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

Consciously designed with advanced, yet sustainable materials, the Emeya uses a new luxury thread made of repurposed fibers as well as PVD aluminum, Alcantara, nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.

When it comes to in-car entertainment, the Emeya has an audio system developed with KEF. It uses KEF’s award-winning Uni-Q speaker design and Uni-Core space-saving subwoofer. It also has Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound capability—first seen in the Lotus Eletre SUV as well as integrated noise cancellation.

The Emeya joins as a flagship model in Lotus’ line-up of luxury lifestyle electric vehicles, part of the company’s vision to become a global performance brand by 2028. Production is expected to begin in 2024.
