During the launch of the current-generation HR-V, Honda Cars Philippines encountered supply problems brought on the chip shortage and logistics challenges. Finally, there’s good news.
More than year after its launch in April 2022 (and even after the launch of the HR-V RS in September 2022), Honda days stocks are now starting to normalize. Despite the continued strong interest for the compact crossover, Honda says they’ve been able to secure stable stocks to finally meet the Filipino market demand.
Honda Cars attributes the HR-V’s sporty design, fun-to-drive performance, versatility, and advanced technology and safety to be the reasons behind its success in the Philippines.
The HR-V reflects the latest design language of Honda. Standard across all variants are full LED headlights with Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and turn signals, and LED fog lights. An integrated front grille commands presence with a pronounced faƧade, that matches with the Amp Up design logo found on the RS Turbo and V Turbo variants.
Clean body lines and 17-inch wheels (18 inches for the RS Turbo) provide a strong and purposeful design, complemented by 196 mm of ground clearance (for V Turbo and S CVT). The look is completed at the rear end with a stylish tailgate and full LED taillights across all variants.
The Honda HR-V interior is inspired by a human-centric design language that incorporates sensible ergonomics and is appointed with quality materials. Convenience features include an 8-inch touchscreen display audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote engine start, and aircon vents with USB ports for the rear seats.
Also standard are the ULT Seats, giving the owner more flexibility in cargo space. There are three adjustable modes: Utility Mode where the two rear seats can be folded to increase cargo space; Long Mode where the front passenger seat can also be folded down along with the rear seats for even longer items; and Tall Mode – A segment exclusive that allows seat cushions to be flipped up for more vertical space for tall items.
Powering this compact crossover are two engine options: for the S variant, a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm, and for the V and RS, a 1.5-liter DOHC VTEC Turbo 4-cylinder with 177 horsepower and 240 Nm. Both engines are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Regardless of variants, the HR-V comes with Honda Sensing as standard. This gives owners access to the following safety features: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), and Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN).

DeleteI said ex-Japan, excluding Japan. Japan has a unique car culture due to its Kei Car regulations. Outside Japan, ASEAN is the only place where DNGA cars are sold. Toyota does this because it can get away with selling inferior DNGA cars here. It's cheaper to manufacture, hence cheaper selling prices, so they get patronized here regardless of their platform. As you said, it comes down to economies of scale. That's all there is to it. It doesn't mean DNGA is a global platform. More accurately put, it's an oriental platform. TNGA is Toyota's true global platform, they even put their name on said platform to highlight the fact.

Same with the Vios, it only started using DNGA this current gen., it used actual Toyota platforms before. Only the Wigo started on a pure Daihatsu platform, the predecessor of DNGA.

This is actually happen too in indo articles xD Actually its a tit for tat between honda and toyota well at least in indonesia. When toyota raize literally the sole player in small suv segment with monthly sales of 1000-2000 units per month beating daihatsu rocky, nissan magnite etc then there it is honda with its WRV. Too, when Honda HRV is the dominant in crossover segment with 2000-ish monthly sales, a market with the likes of hyundai creta, suzuki grand vitara etc which hardly reach 1000 units mark per month then toyota came with yaris cross and it seems paid off. Month of july sales ; yaris cross 1849 units while honda HRV 1509 units. The rivalry which repeat the yaris hatchback vs jazz when both were popular xD this crossover segment is hotly contested with the upcoming mitsubishi xforce. More options is good for the buyer, though.
