First-Ever Lexus LBX Confirmed For March 18 Launch

The smallest car yet to carry a Lexus badge, the LBX has been confirmed for a launch on March 18. Reservations at Lexus Manila are now open. With the “less is more” approach, the LBX carries all the Lexus hallmarks—quality, craftsmanship, driving signature, in an urban-friendly package.

Dubbed the “Lexus Breakthrough Crossover,” the LBX offers more personalization than ever with customers being able to choose from a greater range of colors to suit their individual tastes. The LBX’s “Next Chapter” design gives it strong visual appeal. There’s a completely new take on Lexus’ spindle grille, while inside, the look is clean, open and refined with a focused cockpit for the driver and the special kind of care and comfort that’s enshrined in Lexus’ Omotenashi approach.

Priced at less than P 3-million, the LBX will certainly have a wider appeal, particularly with the younger set who like luxury with a more casual feel. Not only will they be attracted by the LBX’s unique exterior design and premium look and feel of the cabin, but the performance and efficiency that its new self-charging hybrid offers.

Speaking of the engine, the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine may seem modest, but it meets all Lexus’ stringent requirements for long-lasting reliability and being naturally aspirated, is not subject to the operating stresses of turbocharging. Maximum output from the full system is 136 horsepower with peak torque of 185Nm. This is expected to enable 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 9.2 seconds, while permitting confident towing of loads up to 750 kilograms.

With its compact dimensions and great all-round view from the steering wheel, the LBX is perfectly at home on city streets. Highly maneuverable, its size is perfect to help you squeeze into tight spaces. But it’s much more than an around-town commuting vehicle. The Lexus Driving Signature gives confidence, control and comfort at all times, the kind of driving quality that’s a hallmark of today’s Lexus models.

Despite its entry-level positioning, make no mistake. There’s no compromise when it comes to safety. The LBX has just the same protection and driver help from Lexus Safety System + systems as its larger sister models.

Lexus Manila is now accepting orders for the first-ever LBX. Customer deliveries will start on March 18.

  1. Not sure if 3-cylinder sounds right to be considered as luxury. For me, luxury is no compromise.

  2. 3 cylinder hybrid. Would it be efficient on the highway?
