On The Eve Of The Mustang's Philippine Launch, Ford Just Revealed A Special 60th Anniversary Edition Model In The US

Well, someone at Ford Philippines screwed up the timing of the all-new 2024 Mustang’s launch. On the eve of the much-anticipated local reveal of the pony car, in the US, Ford just came up with a 60th Anniversary Package that harks back to the 1965 original.

The Mustang 60th Anniversary Package as it’s officially known is only available on the GT Premium trim (both coupe and convertible). This means it comes packing the 5.0-liter V8 good for 493 horsepower and 567 Nm of torque. For the markets where this package will be made available, it comes in both manual (6-speed) or automatic (10-speed) flavors.

As a special appearance package, the Mustang 60th Anniversary Package is immediately identifiable by its unique mesh grille that has silver accented “nostrils,” smoked headlights with silver accents, and Iconic Silver or Wimbledon White side mirror caps. Other design hark backs include special badges on the fenders and trunk lid which are reminiscent of the ’65 Mustang cloisonné badges. It sits on special 20-inch Dark Gravity Gray wheels with a Vermillion Red retro-themed stamped aluminum center cap. The same Vermillion Red color is found on the optional side graphics which could also be ordered in Iconic Silver.

And since only 1,965 vars will be offered—it’s serialized on the inside with a 60th Anniversary instrument panel badge.

So far, there’s no word if Ford Philippines will offer the Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition. At this point, you might be thinking: Ford never offers these special edition variants anyhow, right? Well, that’s where you’re wrong. Those of us who’ve been covering this industry long enough know that to mark the Mustang’s 50th anniversary globally, Ford Philippines managed to snag a couple of Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition models. In fact, 64 made it locally. So, here’s hoping that Ford Philippines does manage to get an allocation of these limited-run Mustangs so we can celebrate its birthday properly.
