Hycan Enters The Philippines

Hycan, the Chinese EV brand established as a joint-venture between GAC and Pearl River Investment Management Group is now in the Philippines under Transcorp. With an official launch slated for the Manila International Auto Show—Hycan is bringing in three EVs to the market: the V09, Z03, and the A06+.

A subsidiary of Sinoequip and Transequip, Transcorp brings 20 years of experience in the distribution of trucks and heavy equipment into the passenger vehicle space. With showrooms located along EDSA, Araneta Avenue, NLEX, and Subic, Hycan customers will be assured of a strong sales and aftersales support.

The V09 serves as the flagship of the Hycan Philippines line-up. The luxury MPV measures in at 5,215 mm x 1,967 mm x 1,910 mm. Its wheelbase of 3,170 mm puts it in the same league as the Toyota Alphard and the GAC M8. However, differentiating it is its engine. Instead of an internal combustion or hybrid engine, the V09 uses an electric motor with 275 horsepower (202 kW) and 335 Nm. Its large capacity battery allows for a range of 620 kilometers, while its 800-volt architecture allows for ultra-fast charging speeds. The V09 rides on independent suspension all around with 225/50R20 wheels and tires on all four corners. In terms of ride, it has an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) as standard.

Standard features on the V09, which retails for P 3,788,000, include nappa leather seats, a dual pane moonroof, ventilated and heated seats, “Luxury Airline” second-row seats, three-zone climate control with air filtration, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch center touch display for the front and a 17.3-inch multi-function ceiling-mounted display for the rear passengers.

For fans of traditional sedans, Hycan Philippines is offering the A06+. The ultra-sleek sedan measures in at 4,945 mm x 1,920 mm x 1,520 mm. Its wheelbase of 2,850 mm makes it a bonafide mid-sized executive sedan. Packing a single electric motor, it puts out 217 horsepower (160 kW) and 225 Nm of torque. Its 60.04-kWh battery offers enough cruising range to hit 520 kilometers. The sporty looks are backed up by 245/45R18 wheels and tires as is a sport-tuned suspension.

Priced at P 1,788,000, the A06+ comes with full LED exterior lighting outside. Inside, it has front and rear seat ventilation, a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.6-inch central control screen. The 11-speaker sound system is tuned by Bongiovi Master Audio. The same sound system also pumps out simulated drivetrain sounds for driver feedback.

Finally, there’s the Z03—a cross between an MPV and a compact SUV (although Hycan officially classifies it a compact SUV). The Z03’s dimensions are 4,602 mm x 1,900 mm x 1,645 mm, but its generous wheelbase of 2,750 mm means uncompromising interior room. The single-motor drivetrain here delivers 217 horsepower (160 kW) and 225 Nm of torque. Its 76.8-kWh NCM battery allows for up to 620 kilometers between charges.

At P 1,688,000, the Z03 is the entry-level model of the Hycan range. Yet, it comes with LED exterior lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and flushed hidden door handles. Inside, it comes with a panoramic sunroof, leather-style seating with driver’s side heating and ventilation, rear seats that fold 155 degrees, a wireless device charger, and the same 10.25-inch + 14.6-inch dual screen combo.

  3. I never heard of any Hycan brand and it sounds good among EV enthusiastic with deep pockets but definitely this Brand is dead before it hit the ground because just too expensive and a scary unavailability of any Brave car dealers wants to sell this EV units. Just a dream Car.

  4. Prices of Hycan EVs are really competitive
The distributor of it is well-known for selling Sinotrucks for a decade already..That company sold thousands of Sinotruck units in the Philippine market.

  5. Jan-march 2024 byd sales down 43%, tesla down 18%. Tesla regained the top spot with 386k units sold vs byd 300k. Car buyers sentiments leaning more on hybrids which are more practical in real world settings.
