Honda To Remanufacture Original Parts For Sports Models

Honda is joining other Japanese carmakers in offering genuine replacement parts of classic sports models, offering owners and restorers of these prized cars a way to keep them on the road for much longer.

The program, called Honda Heritage Parts, will start production of certain discontinued genuine parts starting with the first-generation Honda NSX. It will launch formerly in April 2026 with plans to offer them globally through existing distribution channels (i.e. authorized Honda Cars dealerships). After which, Honda will expand availability to other sports type models in the near future.

Honda Heritage Parts will come in two types: Genuine Honda Heritage Compatible Parts and Genuine Honda Heritage Reproduction Parts.

Genuine Honda Heritage Compatible Parts are newly redeveloped and reproduced to replace original parts no longer available for sale by Honda. This was made possible by the establishment of a new collaborative framework with parts suppliers, technological advancements, and adoption of new materials and manufacturing methods. On the other hand, Genuine Honda Heritage Reproduction Parts will be reproduced using the same materials and production methods that were used for the original parts.

For those living in Japan, Honda is going a step further by offering a Honda Restoration Service. Also starting with the first-generation NSX, Honda will restore a vehicle as “faithfully as possible” with regards to its performance, looks, and feel.

The service will come in two types. The first is Basic Restoration where work is done on performance-related items such as engine and suspension. The second is Total Restoration which include exterior and interior works as well as more detailed, comprehensive works tailored to the condition of each vehicle.

Starting in January 2026, application for the restoration service will be open through Honda Cars dealerships in Japan. All restoration works will be done at the Honda Heritage Works Takanezawa in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
