Ford Philippine Sales Jump 35 Percent in July
Ford Philippines today announced its best-ever performance for the month of July with total retail sales jumping 35 percent year-over-year to 1,723 units. The record July was led by an all-time record month for Ranger in the Philippines, as well as continued strong demand for the EcoSport, Explorer and Everest nameplates.
“The continuing rise in appeal for the Ford brand among Filipinos, a strong economy and healthy consumer confidence is helping keep our showrooms busy across the country. And our full line-up of global Ford vehicles is allowing us to connect with and meet the wants and needs of such a wide range of customers,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.
July sales of the class-defining Ranger pickup truck jumped 45 percent year-over-year to 650 units – an all-time record in the Philippines. Year-to-date sales of Ranger have now increased 61 percent to 3,933 units, as the full lineup of 13 Rangers in the Philippines is providing significant customer choice.
“The popularity of the Ranger across all customers in this segment is really helping to drive its success. Its class-leading features and versatility make it an aspirational vehicle, whether it’s for personal use, commercial needs, or sometimes both,” explained Hart.
Sales of the all-new EcoSport urban SUV continued to rise in its fourth month of availability with sales of 523 units in July. The compact EcoSport is helping to define a whole new vehicle segement, recording overall sales of 2,164 units since being launched in the Philippines.
Ford’s other SUVs also contributed to July’s record performance. The popular Everest SUV delivered sales of 258 units in July, helping its year-to-date sales increase 22 percent to 1,903 units.
The Ford Explorer delivered sales of 98 units in July, with overall sales of the premium SUV having now risen 15 percent from a year ago to 678 units.
The sporty Ford Fiesta also remains a strong choice among young and trendy Filipinos, with July sales driven by strong demand for its 1.0L Ecoboost variant. The Fiesta’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which was recently named International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year, delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.
Ford’s exceptional performance this year is being driven by the success of its ongoing product-led transformation in the Philippines as overall year-to-date sales have risen 41 percent to 10,587 units.
“Our July success is a continuation of an exceptional year for Ford in the Philippines, and demonstrates that Ford is going further to deliver a line-up of global vehicles that Filipinos continue to appreciate and enjoy,” said Hart.
Ford also reaffirmed its plans to have 37 dealers in the country by the end of the year. This includes adding three new locations to its rapidly expanding dealer network with the opening of new dealership showrooms in Alabang, Baguio and Zamboanga in the coming months.
Ford also continued with its popular Driving Skills for Life program in July, now in its its seventh successful year in the Philippines. The company plans to have more than 2,000 drivers participate in the driver education and road safety training this year, with an aim to reach even more young and first-time car drivers, including college and university students.
