Ford Philippines Delivers Best January Yet; Sales Rise 52 Percent

Ford Philippines today showed that its momentum in 2014 continued into the new year by reporting its best-ever January performance with retail sales jumping 52 percent year-over-year to 1,637 units.

“A strong outlook for the domestic economy this year is helping to sustain healthy consumer confidence, and keeping our Ford dealerships busy across the country,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Ford’s January performance in the Philippines was led by the EcoSport, delivering sales of 742 units, its best monthly performance since being launched ten months ago. The compact urban SUV has continued to delight customers and successfully define a whole new customer segment in the Philippines.

“The EcoSport has really struck the right chord with Filipinos, who appreciate its unique offering and attractive package of smart features, standout design and impressive fuel economy. It continues to outperform even our own high expectations,” explained Hart.

Strong demand for the class-defining Ford Ranger – the best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines in 2014 – continued in January with retail sales increasing 32 percent to 541 units.

The Ranger’s full lineup of 13 automatic- and manual-transmission variants is helping to meet the needs and requirements of customers across a range of work and lifestyles.

Ford’s SUV lineup also contributed to the strong start this year, with the popular Everest SUV delivering January sales of 118 units. The premium Explorer SUV recorded sales of 107 units in January. Ford recently launched the Explorer Sport and premium Escape in the Philippines, with customer deliveries of the Escape kicking off this month.

The sporty Ford Fiesta delivered sales of 99 units in January, with the high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine continuing to attract attention in the market. The 1.0L EcoBoost engine delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.

Ford plans to continue enhancing its customer and ownership experience across the country in 2015, including the further expansion of its nationwide dealer network to a total of 40 locations.
“It’s a great way to start the year, and we’re looking forward to continuing to serve our growing number of customers across the country, as well as attracting so many more new-to-Ford customers to our world-class brand,” explained Hart. “We’re really excited about continuing to build on our overall customer experience.”
