Ford Philippines Hits All-Time Sales Record in 2016

Ford Philippines announced its fourth consecutive year of record sales with 2016 retail sales rising 33 percent from the prior year to 33,688 vehicles, driven by continued strong demand for EcoSport, Everest, and Ranger.

The record year was capped by Ford’s best-ever December performance in the Philippines with sales increasing 13 percent year-over-year to 3,198 vehicles.

“Our big three nameplates – Ranger, Everest, and EcoSport – continued to lead the charge throughout the year and further solidify the Ford brand as a top choice among Filipinos,” said Lance Mosley, managing director, Ford Philippines.

The Everest became Ford’s best-seller in the Philippines in 2016 with full-year sales rising 152 percent year-over-year to a record 12,453 vehicles, finishing the year with a 6 percent rise in December sales to 1,066 vehicles.

The Everest raises the bar for mid-sized SUVs with its striking design, outstanding capability, and advanced connectivity and driver assistance technologies that make it one of the smartest in its segment.

The EcoSport compact SUV also turned in its best-ever full-year performance with retail sales rising 15 percent to 10,010 vehicles, capping the year with December sales rising 40 percent to an all-time monthly record of 1,123 vehicles.

The segment-defining Ranger finished 2016 as the second best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines with total retail sales of 8,158 vehicles.

“The ‘Built Ford Tough” Ranger continues to build on its strong reputation as the most capable, powerful and smartest pickup in the market,” explained Mosley.

The premium Explorer SUV delivered full-year sales that increased eight percent to 1,030 vehicles, including December sales that rose two percent from a year ago to 91 vehicles. Total retail sales of the iconic Mustang rose 52 percent to 319 vehicles, its best-ever in the Philippines, while Expedition sales rose 80 percent from the previous year to 117 vehicles.

In 2016, Ford continued the expansion of its nationwide dealer network by opening three new dealerships, bringing its total to 43 outlets in key locations across the Philippines. Ford plans to further grow its dealer network this year, including a continued focus on new, key provincial areas.

“We’ll continue to work closely with all of our Ford dealer partners to further strengthen our overall customer and brand experience in all locations nationwide,” said Mosley.
