If there’s a sign that things still aren’t well over at China-run Geely Motor Philippines, just look at their marketing and IT departments. Despite their marketing department’s constant barrage of teases regarding a potential “BYD Sealion 6 DM-i killer” (yeah, it seems every Chinese crossover now is), their IT department just posted details on the Geely EX5 EM-i in its full, naked glory on their website.
Coming in two variants—the Geely EX5 EM-i Pro and Max, it’s priced at P 1,288,000 for the EX5 EM-i Pro and P 1,468,000 for the EX5 EM-i Max. For reservations done today until May 31, 2026, the Chinese carmaker is slashing an additional P 50,000 off.
The EX5 EM-i will come six colors for the Philippine market: Alphine White, Cloudveil Silver, Glacier Blue, Jungle Green, Polar Black, and Volcanic Gray. An Amber Brown colorway is standard on the Max, while the Pro receives a Sapphire Blue one.
Mechanically, both the EX5 EM-i Pro and Max variants are powered by a front-mounted 217 horsepower (160 kW), 262 Nm electric motor enough for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 8 seconds. A 100 horsepower (73 kW), 125 Nm combustion engine acts as a generator, feeding electricity to an 18.4-kWh LFP battery. The EX5 EM-i can also be charged using both AC (6.6 kW maximum) and DC (30 kW maximum).
Like the EX5 EV, the EX5 EM-i is underpinned by Geely’s new global intelligent new energy architecture (GEA). Not only does this lead to stable handling (it passes the moose test at 78.68 km/h), but it also lends it a class-leading interior space utilization rate.
The EX5 EM-i uses yet another technology from the EX5 EV, GEEA 3.0—Geely’s latest electrical and electronics architecture. This enables Level2+ ADAS with adaptive cruise control with stop & go support, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind spot indicators with rear cross traffic alert are standard issue. This special architecture also powers the infotainment system and its 15.4-inch center touchscreen.
Other standard features in the EX5 EM-i include LED exterior lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.2-inch driver’s display, and automatic climate control with rear vents. Moving up to the EX5 EM-i Max, it gets 19-inch alloy wheels, a 13.4-inch heads-up display, a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, 256-color ambient lighting, a wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, and powered seats with ventilation and memory presets for the driver.
So, while the EX5 EM-i sounds exciting from a product perspective, if Geely can’t even get their IT and marketing departments on the same page, imagine how things are with their service or even parts department.

Also, equating mistakes (that, again, I don't really get) of one part of the business as reason to doubt their service and parts department when that part of the business isn't what's being reported upon seems like some heavy false equivalence.

ReplyDeleteI like the EX5 EMI over anything that BYD offers within the same price range. What's strange to me is when I try to look for reviews in Youtube, there doesn't seem to be any coverage locally? Another thing is, the car dealer that sells Geely in my area is Gateway which also sells Kia. Mitsubishi, Nissan among other car brands. As a Kia car owner, I've had a lot of bad experience with their customer service. So much so that I vowed to never buy from this particular dealer again. Proximity to the dealership and after sales service matters to me. I wish there was another Geely dealer here.

DeleteGeely has so many issues. Our Okavango is sitting at the dealer since last October waiting for the parts to arrive from China. Geely Philippines is a joke. Never ever buy a Geely. You will regret it, as we do.

DeleteYes, please indicate the specific dealer so that we'll possibly reconsider if we're still getting an EX5-EMi Pro as it's really better spec wise than the SL6, the latter of which is Php250K—Php300K more expensive. Thank you.
