It’s confirmed: the all-new Lexus ES luxury sedan will arrive in the Philippines in pure electric form first. After being revealed as one of the all-new models to be launched this year, Lexus Philippines has received regulatory approval for the all-new ES in the form of the Lexus ES 350e.
Benefitting from Lexus’ expertise in advanced electrification, the all-new Lexus ES rides on the Lexus global architecture-K platform.
Confirmed in its homologation papers, the front-mounted e-Axle, which integrate both the power control unit and transaxle, delivers 227 horsepower (167 kW) and 269 Nm of torque. The new design is also lightweight and compact, further optimizing the cabin and load space. The battery size is also confirmed to be a 77 kWh (74.68 kWh usable) NCM lithium-ion battery pack which should offer it 530 kilometers of WLTP range.
Style-wise, the Lexus ES gets the “Clean Tech x Elegance” design concept which pairs refinement with a simple, clean aesthetic. Yet, consideration has been made to make sure the car is comfortable to enter and exit.
The eighth-generation ES is also much larger than the sedan it replaces. It measures 5,140 mm in length (+165 mm), 1,920 mm in width (+55 mm), and 1,560 mm in height (+115 mm). Its wheelbase has also grown by 80 mm to 2,950 mm.
Lexus Philippines has yet to reveal the full specs of the all-new ES but expect it to embrace things like “Hidden Tech” switches. This means that when the car’s turned off, the switches are not visible beneath the dashboard; when the driver switches the car on, they light up and are revealed. It is also the second Toyota/Lexus model to use the Arene operating system that’s also found in the all-new RAV4 (read our first impressions).
Other key features include new bamboo-styled door panels that’s illuminated either by gradually changing or fixed ambient lighting, reclining rear seat with an ottoman extendable leg rest and forward-folding front passenger seat, 12.3-inch driver’s display, and 14-inch central touchscreen display. It also adopts Lexus Safety System+ 4.0.
The launch of the all-new Lexus ES (in BEV form) might happen as soon as the Philippine International Motor Show where it’ll likely join the refreshed Lexus RZ as well as refreshed Lexus IS. This is in lockstep with the rest of the world where Lexus has opted to launch the BEV version of their mid-size executive sedan first with the hybrid (ES 300h and/or 350h) to follow by late 2026.
