Is Nissan Philippines about to find itself launching a brand-new, old model in a couple of months time? While the carmaker did receive homologation approval for the Nissan X-Trail e-Power—a compact SUV several years in the making, the all-new X-Trail was just previewed at Nissan’s long-term vision showcase.
Part of the company’s vision to streamline its global line-up of models from 56 to 45 models, the X-Trail will feature an updated version of the company’s signature e-Power series hybrid powertrain. Compared to traditional hybrids which are series-parallel or parallel hybrids, Nissan touts its system for instant torque and quick, smooth acceleration.
In city driving, the gasoline engine runs infrequently because speeds are lower and battery demand is modest. On highways or under heavy load, the engine runs more often to maintain battery charge and supply sustained electrical power. The lithium-ion battery stores energy captured through regenerative braking and from the engine, which is connected to a generator instead of a transmission.
Nissan is confident that the third-generation e-Power will handle more diverse driving scenarios and will continue to have e-Pedal one-pedal driving.
Nissan has also confirmed that the X-Trail will come with dual-motor electric all-wheel drive. Using dual motors and intelligent brake control, the system continuously calculates the optimal distribution of driving force for turning, accelerating and slowing down—adapting instantly to driver input and changing road conditions.
During cornering, power is adjusted front‑to‑rear and side‑to‑side to maximize grip, helping the vehicle track smoothly and predictably. When the driver lifts off the accelerator, balanced regenerative braking from both motors can reduce body pitch for flat, stable deceleration and a more comfortable ride.
Additional details on design, technology and specifications will be shared closer to launch, but Nissan has confirmed it will launch globally by late 2026.

Seems like a bigger Kicks
