How Much Money Do You Save Driving a Nissan Leaf?

Admittedly, practicality is the least interesting reason to buy a car. There’s no giddiness in choosing that diesel-fed SUV over that swoopy turbocharged sportscar just because it saves you more gas. And yet, that’s the mindset that a vast majority of buyers will find themselves in come their next car purchase. Forget about saving the environment or feeding your enthusiast soul for that matter, it’s all about which one gives you more savings; which one extends your peso so that you can feed your family and meet the monthly financing dues of your new car at the same time. This is the sort of market the Nissan Leaf finds itself in.

Review: 2015 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL

Photos by Ulysses Ang
Perhaps it’s age, but there’s nothing more satisfying than driving an executive sedan after a hard day’s work. Though most will still dream about owning a Nissan GT-R or 370Z, they’re not exactly the best kind of car you’ll want to drive home in traffic after spending the day in meetings in a monkey suit. After all that work stress, you’ll want something that cushions and cuddles you as you drive through Manila’s horrendous traffic, commuting two hours in stop-and-go traffic just to get home. This is the sort of role the Nissan Altima fulfills and fulfills beautifully.

Review: 2016 Nissan Almera 1.5 VL

It’s hard to get excited about the Nissan Almera. When it first made its way to the Philippine market three years ago, it already looked dated right before it rolled off the assembly line. And given the Filipino car buyer’s penchant for something sleek and sporty, it failed to gain traction despite boasting a blizzard-inducing air conditioning system. Fast forward to 2016 and Nissan has refreshed the Almera with a re-tweaked design and more features. Can it gain lost ground now?

Review: 2015 Nissan X-Trail 4WD

Photos by Ulysses Ang
Back in 2000, the Nissan X-Trail was launched with an upright, boxy body that looked rather sedate. What it lacked in style though it made up for it with interesting stuff like a washable cargo hold, water repellant seats, and commendable off-road abilities (although comparing its AWD system with the Skyline GT-R’s leaves a bad taste). Still, next to fashion comedy, Zoolander, it looked like the X-Trail withstood the effects of time better than the film’s zebra-print pants, faux fur, and over-the-top hair. Now, here’s the 2015 model.

First Drive: 2015 Nissan X-Trail 4WD

Photos by Ulysses Ang
Driving up to Baguio, the City of Pines, was once considered an automotive torture test. It was where new cars are brought up in the hopes of getting back with tales how everything went smoothly or awfully wrong. Although those days are over, Baguio is still a commonly preferred destination to stretch a new car’s legs, and of course, act as a quick getaway. Thus, it wasn’t a big surprise that Baguio was chosen as the destination to shakedown the all-new Nissan X-Trail—the compact crossover that promises to signal the Japanese brand’s return to glory.
