Review: 2023 GAC EMPOW 1.5T GE

Chinese carmakers often rely on two playbooks when marketing their cars in the Philippines. The first is to claim that you’re the custodian of a storied European brand, even if the cars you’re selling have nothing to do with said European brand. Second is to leverage all the technical partnerships you’ve gained throughout the years, down to whoever supplies the carpet. Either way, they make for good soundbites, but sadly, don’t often translate to cars which are actually respectable to drive.

Review: 2023 MG GT Sport

The term, “GT” is one of the most misused automotive terms out there. In the simplest sense, a Grand Tourer, or if you prefer Italian, Gran Turismo, refers to a type of car designed for high speed and long-distance driving. And because they have to combine both performance and luxury attributes, they’re often a coupe derived from a sedan counterpart. A quick glance at the MG GT tells you it’s none of these things. But don’t let that turn you off, because at the end of the day, this compact sedan still has something good to offer.

2023 Honda Civic RS: A Comeback Worth Waiting For

The thing about driving a Honda—any Honda, for that matter—is that there is likely some form of history or experience that the driver can draw from. After all, the brand has been in the Philippines for over 30 years. With that number alone, it can be safely said that at least 2 generations of Filipinos have had the pleasure of growing up with a Honda vehicle, whether it be the founding classics or a modern revamp.

Review: 2022 Honda Civic RS Turbo Honda SENSING

The compact car segment is fast shrinking here in the Philippines. What was once considered as the starter family car has now been replaced by genre-bending crossovers, SUVs, and even pick-up trucks. Review: 2022 Honda Civic V Turbo Honda SENSING

The Civic is one vehicle Honda can’t get wrong. While some generations are better than others, they’ve always managed to push the compact car envelope in one way or another. That trend continues in the 2022 model. Throughout its history, it has generally followed a pattern of revolutionary redesign followed by more cautious evolution. As the all-new, eleventh-generation model, the 2022 Civic falls into the evolution category. But while the basic ingredients are familiar, the right amount of Honda’s secret sauce has been poured in to make it not just the best compact car on offer today, but one of the best new cars you can buy full stop.
