EDSA Rehab Has Been Postponed

Confused with the planned odd-even scheme and all that with the upcoming EDSA rehab project? Well, you can rest easy as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has decided to postpone the ambitious project which would have started on Sunday, June 13. This is according to breaking news from ABS-CBN.

Marred by confusion and outrage among the commuting public, the president acknowledged that the suspension of the EDSA rehab project will allow various government agencies to “find a better way” to repair one of Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare. The president points to the use of technology to help better plan the EDSA rehabilitation project.

The project, which would have started on Sunday, June 13, would fix EDSA over a two-year period. The initial stage of the rehab would have spanned Pasay to Shaw Boulevard triggering comments of possible heavy traffic and road congestion.

To alleviate this, the DOTr planned to implement an 24-hour odd-even scheme specific to EDSA, while also beefing up its EDSA bus carousel and MRT trains. There were also plans to bring back remote work and schooling.

The suspension of the EDSA rehab project means the planned odd-even scheme is off the table (for now). This has been confirmed by the DOTr.

Marcos did not give any specific date on when the rehab will possibly start, but he did say that the government will need a month to study other options. This includes a shortened project that would stretch to just six months from the planned three-year period.
