Plug-in hybrids may be getting much of the attention and love when it comes to single-tank range, but when it comes to being listed in the record books, a self-charging hybrid from Great Wall Motor beat them all.
GWM Malaysia just announced that its Haval H6 HEV is now listed in the ASEAN Records for the longest single-tank distance and most verified owners exceeding 1,000 kilometers, all under real-world driving conditions.
The ASEAN Records is a platform that showcases Southeast Asia’s achievements and promote excellence in various fields, recognizing a wide range of accomplishments and unique feats by individuals and organizations in among the 10-member country bloc.
As part of their nationwide fuel endurance challenge, 38 Haval H6 HEV owners successfully crossed the 1,000-kilometer mark, with the longest verified distance reaching 1,242 kilometers on a single tank of gas. The feat demonstrates that the Haval H6 HEV can be fuel efficient regardless of driver skill.
According to GWM Malaysia, this marks the first time a hybrid SUV in ASEAN has accomplished such a feat through genuine, everyday usage.
The Haval H6 HEV is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter paired with a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) with an integrated motor. The combined output makes 240 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque, enabling a 7.7-second 0 to 100 km/h time. It also has a 1.69-kWh battery that allows it to automatically switch between electric drive, series hybrid, parallel hybrid, or pure ICE drive modes, depending on the speed and power required from the driver.
🧐🧐🧐 fuel tank capacity vs corolla cross HEV, BYD sealion 6? all other things equal, the bigger the fuel tank the longer the range.
ReplyDeleteYep you’re right this kind of feat is based on fuel tank capacity that’s why I don’t mind this particular kind of marketing brag. What is something more evident and important however is that GWM H6 right there is the most technologically advanced hybrid vehicle in the ph market right now and also the most hp and torque vehicle under 2M. For me that’s worth buying. Being fuel efficient is just a bonus
DeleteVery logical and accurate on this ^^^.
Deleteto be fair it should be km per liter, GWM hev vs corolla cross hev vs sealion 6? Same liters on fuel tank ,not just short city driving but real world endurance driving till the last drop.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about being fair, note that the title of the article is clear "..... Asean's Longest Single-Tank Range", not "....Asean's Highest Kilometer/Liter".
DeleteMay I know if the above H6 HEV truly managed a 7.7 sec. 0-100Kph, and how it was done?
ReplyDeleteOur company purchased a H6 HEV MAX in July 2023 as it was a good enough HEV at then a good value at P1.705M, but not one of us was able to do better than an 8.7 sec. 0-100Kph time despite having the same Hp, Torque, and Drivetrain as the above H6 HEV above. Our H6 MAX was the lighter of the 2 available variants as it had less features
Prior to our purchase, extensive research by a couple of Gearheads (myself included) in the office were done on the H6 HEV as it had already been sold in South Africa for almost a year prior to our July 2023 purchase, and none of us found an H6 HEV video or written review that showed a 0-100Kph acceleration test of less than 8.5 sec. (in fact most indicated a figure closer to 9 sec.).
In a casual drag race of 3 runs between our H6 MAX and our October 2024 SEALION 6, the SL6 was consistently & clearly quicker from 0-100Kph even as the BYD published 0-100Kph time of the SL6 is 8.3 sec. in its Philippine brochure/website.
If you gentlemen know how to extract from .8 to 1 sec. quicker
0-100Kph acceleration times from an H6 HEV please do let us know.
Btw, we totally agree that the H6 HEV is too softly sprung to the point that we're trying to find the most cost efficient way to firm up the suspension. Also, we're achieving about the same fuel economy as in the above article at 12.94Km/l city driving.
The SL6 is an overall better FWD Crossover at a better price, costs less to run due to the much bigger 18.33 Blade Battery with a practical full electric range of about 65-68Km utilizing 75% (SL6 computer runs the ICE at 25% SOC) of the 18.33Kw Battery. The NA ICE engine will likely last much longer than that of the H6 HEV as there's much less stress on the engine than the Turbocharged ICE in the H6 HEV.
On the side of the H6 HEV, it has more safety features than the SL6, but it needs much more dead dinosaurs juice to run.
GWM Philippines has to lower the price of the H6 HEV MAX to P100K below that of the SL6 ( and firm up the suspension) if it wants to sell more units of the H6 HEV MAX.
Hope the above helps someone considering an H6 HEV or a
SEALION 6.
.
GWM vehicles tend to be much more expensive as they want to earn good profits from it
DeleteBYD is known for selling its vehicles at very low prices at low profit margihs as BYD is more concerned about sales numbers than profits
A lot of motoring journalist gives to much importance to range. How about real world fuel economy. Nobody will drive 1000kms non stop. Real world fc is more important. Almost never does itbocuur that that advertised fc is better than the actual fc
ReplyDeleteHaval H6 is a really good high quality and fuel efficient SUV
ReplyDeleteWell, you always said that in all china car brands. Always praising all the heavens for china car brands here, not objective but blind praises.
DeleteWell, he's the notorious kuchi888 here in Carguide.PH. He's always like that, praising Chinese cars while bashing Toyota's DNGA cars. He's not objective to be frank about it.
DeleteHere’s your 50 cent, wumao
