When Hyundai introduced the high-performance version of the Elantra, the Elantra N, at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, there were purists who wondered: why can’t I get it with a manual gearbox? Well, armchair pundits, get those wallets and checkbooks ready because a year later that’s exactly what Hyundai Motor Philippines is giving you.
Joining the vastly expanded Elantra family which now includes a normally aspirated, turbocharged, and hybrid variants, the Elantra N can now be had with a 6-speed manual.
Based purely on the spec sheet, the Elantra N, whether equipped with a manual or automatic, produce the same 5.3-second 0 to 100 km/h time courtesy of a turbocharged 2.0-liter GDI engine with 280 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque.
Quantifiably, the 6-speed manual is a tad slower—with some reporting a 5.7-second time, while the 8-speed DCT is faster with a 4.8-second time. What you give up in sheer pace, it returns with a much more engaging experience. The Elantra N, when equipped with the 6-speed manual, gives drivers complete control. Automatic rev-matching is applied during downshifts to maximize exhilaration.
Specs for both variants of the Elantra N are identical, minus of course for the paddle shifters which are MIA in the 6-speed manual. However, others including the Electronic Limited Slip Differential, ultra-sticky 245/35R19 tires, and even the 8-speaker Bose sound system are all there.
As for pricing, the Elantra N 2.0T 6MT costs P 2,638,000—the launch price of the Elantra N 2.0T 8DCT. The automatic version, which is still available, sees its price go up to P 2,738,000 for 2025.
