Nissan’s co-op EV, the N7 sedan, is off to a great start and there are now plans to offer it outside of China.
Launched last April 27, the N7 is the first of nine New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) that Nissan plans to launch in China by the middle of 2027. Deliveries in China began on May 15, and so far, Nissan said that orders have reached a cumulative total of 17,215 units. It’s mainly purchased by young families under the age of 35, 70 percent of whom are first-time Nissan buyers.
The N7 is a medium-large sedan measuring 4,930 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height. Its 2,915 mm wheelbase, meanwhile, provides a spacious cabin.
Riding on a new Dongfeng Nissan modular architecture made exclusively for electrified vehicles, the N7 has a fluidic and futuristic appearance while also wearing the iconic V-Motion grille design. It’s powered by a single front-mounted electric motor producing either 218 or 272 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque juiced by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery either in 58 or 73 kWh capacities. Maximum cruising range? 510 to 635 kilometers.
Inside, the N7 has an infotainment system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor. It also comes with advanced end-to-end driver-assistant system called Navigate on Autopilot that was jointly developed with Momenta, a leader in autonomous driving technology in China. Other features include an AI-based adaptive posture system for “zero-pressure” seating.
In China, the N7 is available in three grades: Max, Pro, and Air.
With the success of the N7, Nissan has confirmed that it will export it outside of China. Together with the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup truck, it will help Nissan with its Re:Nissan recovery plan by meeting the diverse global needs of its consumers globally.
