Nissan launched its first-ever plug-in hybrid and first-ever electrified pickup truck in the form of the Frontier Pro. Arriving in China first later this year, the Frontier Pro brings together Nissan’s decades-long pickup truck legacy with its latest powertrain technology.
Designed around the concept of “Rugged Tech,” the all-new Frontier Pro is designed at Nissan’s Shanghai studio. Within the front “mask,” the Nissan brand logo is illuminated, while parallel to the hood line, five LED light elements, spaced apart, accentuate its width. Meanwhile, the three central lights pay subtle homage to Nissan’s iconic pickup trucks: the 1980s Nissan D21 hardbody pickup. It rides on 18-inch wheels with 265/65R18 tires.
At its heart is a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder internal combustion engine and a transmission-mounted, high output electric motor. Combined, the system delivers over 408 horsepower (300 kW) of power and up to 800 Nm, offering a balance of performance and efficiency. For the China domestic market, the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid is targeted to deliver up to 135 kilometers of EV-only range.
All models feature a 5-link rear suspension and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which automatically controls torque distribution between the front and rear wheels.
Off-road capability is supported by the availability of an electromechanical rear differential lock. Four drive modes: ‘Hybrid, Pure electric, Performance and Snow’ allow the driver to tailor their experience to the conditions and their preferences.
Inside, the cabin is spacious and well-appointed with a standard panoramic roof, a 10-inch LCD instrument panel, and 14.6-inch infotainment screen. Front seat heating, ventilation and seat-back massage are available.
To support the active lifestyle of owners, the all-new Nissan Frontier Pro includes features such as roof rails and an electronic retractable cover for the cargo area.
Owners can conveniently charge household devices using a Vehicle-to-load (V2L) port, which leverages the plug-in hybrid battery to supply up to 6kW of power.
Co-developed with Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA), the all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid will also be exported outside of China with the recipient markets to be announced later.
it's giving F150 Lightning with those lighting signatures :P
ReplyDeleteSo Nissan will have 4 midsized pickups, depending on the region, all called either Frontier or Navara.
ReplyDeleteThere's the USDM D41 Frontier, the global D23 Navara which will continue production and even get a facelift, the next-gen Triton-based Navara which will replace the D23 in some regions, and this Zengzhou-Nissan Frontier Pro PHEV.
I wonder what midsize pickup PH will get. The Frontier Pro being 1.5L in displacement would definitely be a favorable option for Nissan PH for lower import duties, plus all the xEV benefits that it gets locally. It would be the second PHEV pickup in the Philippines and the first from a legacy automaker. This would be a gamechanger since it has all the right ingredients to be sold affordably. The BYD Shark should watch out.
badged only as nissan but its a Dongfeng car same with territory
ReplyDeletePricing is the key factor. Same or way more expensive than china e-cars?
ReplyDeleteNice new pickup truck from Nissan and Dongfeng
ReplyDeleteDongfeng is selling the EV and 2.3 liter turbo diesel versions of the Rich pickup truck which is a rebadged and enhanced Navara pickup truck
Nissan U9 / Frontier Pro isn't the replacement to Rich pickup truck series
Navara for 1M - 1.9M. Frontier Pro for 2.1M - 2.3M. This pricing would definitely work locally.
ReplyDeleteIf that is the price... I agree, this would sell.
