The City of Valenzuela is going electric has it took delivery of 41 BYD Dolphin EVs to be used as patrol cars to serve various communities in the area. The milestone marks Valenzuela as the first local government unit (LGU) in the Philippines to operate the largest EV police fleet.
Of the 41 BYD Dolphin units deployed, 35 have been assigned to the Valenzuela City Police Station for active patrol and law enforcement duties. City government offices will utilize five units, while one will serve as a first responder vehicle.
Each Dolphin is driven by a 95-horsepower electric motor and powered by a 44.9-kWh BYD Blade Battery enough for up to 405 kilometers on a single charge. The Dolphin supports DC fast charging, resulting in a 10 to 80 percent charge in 30 minutes—ideal for the demands of government and emergency operations. Police units have also been upfitted with lights, sirens, and integrated communications systems.
“ACMobility and BYD Cars Philippines are proud to turn over this fleet of 41 BYD Dolphin electric vehicles to the City of Valenzuela. These EVs will now serve and protect the people, not just as tools of law enforcement, but as symbols of a cleaner, smarter, and more responsible future,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.
To support Valenzuela City’s move to green mobility, Greenstrum, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has installed a network of 15 7-kW AC chargers across 12 locations in the city.
ACMobility will also install public EV charging points at various locations throughout the city, starting with a 60-kW DC fast charger located at the Alert Station in Valenzuela. This, along with future public ACMobility chargers to be established in various locations throughout the city, will be visible in the Evro app and made available to the public.
“By aiming to be the first LGU in the Philippines with the largest fleet of electric vehicles and the most extensive network of government and public charging stations strategically located in NLEX, in MacArthur, and in Mindanao Avenue, we have become torchbearers of the country,” said Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian.
He adds, “This is just the beginning of a transformative journey. By strategically placing charging stations in major thoroughfares and vibrant urban centers, we are promoting the use and making the transition to electric vehicles effortless, convenient, and accessible to all Valenzuelanos.”
Valenzuela City budget for 41 units BYD Dolphins : P75,768,000.00
ReplyDeleteActual price of 41 BYD Dolphins, w/o discount: P57,318,000.00
Amount na ginagago tayo ng mga magnanakaw: P18,450,000.00
Just a quick look on the photo and you'll already see there's police lights installed in those cars. I'm pretty sure they are also fitted with sirens. Police vehicles are also equipped with a lot of other accessories, so you can't definitely use the car's SRP as the cost for each unit. Although dapat nga may discount sila makuha sa dami ng biniling units. What remains to be seen is the cost of all other accessories fitted to those units. Then yung cost pa ng installation for EV charging stations and cost ng painting of each unit. Kung may nakurakot man, it's definitely less than P18.45 million.
DeleteYes given the "police set up" like blinkers and decals (it's not painted) and maybe brackets and radio equipments, I am pretty sure the added cost won't amount to half a million per vehicle.
DeleteAnd I am sure you agree that kung maliit sa P18.45 million ang nakurakot, it STILL does not make this alright. Specially given that Valenzuela is a city that has a high poverty rate and bad infrasctructure.
Tamaraw sana binili nakatulong pa sa local jobs and may laban sa baha
ReplyDeleteproud na proud pa mga taga valenzuela na ninakawan sila hahaha
ReplyDeletewell, the competing candidate should validate these data and use it against the incumbent.
