2026 Mazda EZ-60 Is A Rear-Drive SUV With Perfect Weight Distribution And 1,000-km Of Range

After the EZ-6 (6e for global markets), Mazda showed off the EZ-60—its second vehicle designed in collaboration with Chinese partner, Changan Auto.

Going on sale later this year, the EZ-60 (likely to be called CX-6e for global markets), is based off the Changan Deepal S07. Utilizing Changan’s EPA platform, the EZ-60 comes either in pure electric or range-extended electric flavors.

For now, Mazda is keeping the specs of the battery electric version under wraps, but they did point it to having a “competitive range” of “around 600 kilometers.” Based on the Deepal S07, however, it may come either with a 56.1-kWh or 68.8-kWh LFP battery. A larger 80-kWh variant will arrive later.

At Auto China, Mazda showed off the range extended EV (RE-EV) version of the EZ-60. Currently a must-have powertrain in China to be competitive, it sports a 31.73-kWh LFP battery for 160 kilometers of all-electric range. Power is good for around 255 horsepower based on government filings. Once that’s depleted, a 95-horsepower 1.5-liter generator kicks in giving it a range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

Measuring in at 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,902 mm, the EZ-60 is around the same size as the CX-60. However, the design takes a vastly different direction. Based off the Arata Concept, it’s designed with “Future + Soul x Modern” in mind. The EZ-60 has been thoroughly reskinned compared to its Changan counterpart with the minimalist and elegant styling giving off a futuristic impression. Air channels at the hood and various parts of the car contribute to excellent aerodynamic performance.

Underneath, the EZ-60 sports a 50-50 front/rear weight distribution and electronically-controlled dampers. Its rear-wheel drive architecture ensures sporty handling backed up by its generous 255/40R21 wheels and tires.

Inside, the EZ-60 has a digital-first cabin with a 26.45-inch 5K ultra-wide display that integrates vehicle information, entertainment, and climate control functions. The minimalist interior eliminates nearly all physical buttons in favor of touch and voice control, while rear passengers enjoy their touchscreens for comfort and media adjustments. Mazda claims the optional 23-speaker 7.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos audio system, designed for audiophiles, delivers immersive, cinema-quality sound.

Despite its sleek form, the EZ-60 offers 350 liters of cargo space, which can be expanded to 2,036 liters with the rear seats folded flat. The fully electric version also features a 126-litre front trunk, and thoughtful storage features are strategically placed throughout the cabin to support daily practicality.

For safety, it comes with nine standard airbags and an Level 2 advanced driver assistance system supported by five HD cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic sensors for 360-degree coverage. The battery protection system, developed with CATL and CALB, includes eight layers of safety measures and is designed to exceed upcoming 2026 regulatory standards in China.

After its release in China, Mazda aims to bring the EZ-60 to global markets where it’ll take on the CX-6e nameplate.
