Volvo Cars PH Confirms New XC60, XC90 Launching This July 2

Volvo Cars Philippines is launching the updated XC60 and XC90 SUVs—a milestone that marks a new era in safe, intelligent, and purposeful mobility this Wednesday, July 2.

Anchored on Volvo: Being Alive, a movement pioneered by Hariphil Asia Resources Inc., the official distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, the event promises to be more than just a product unveiling. It is the embodiment of Volvo’s commitment to achieving zero collisions and establishing a genuine culture of safety here in the Philippines.

“This is more than just a product introduction — it is a celebration of thoughtful leadership, and collective responsibility on the road. We look forward to sharing how Volvo continues to shape the culture of safety and the future of mobility with purpose and care,” says Ms. Maria Fe Perez Agudo, Vice Chairman, President, and CEO of Hariphil Asia Resources Inc.

Every new chapter Volvo writes aims not only to protect lives but to inspire a collective sense of responsibility where safety is shared by all road users. Through thoughtful leadership in safety, Volvo strives to empower individuals to live fully and drive with intention, ensuring that every journey is as safe as it is meaningful.

Volvo will reveal the Philippine spec and prices on July 2, but the new XC90 and XC60 have been out in global markets for some time. Both build on the award-winning foundations of their respective predecessors, but offer broadened technology and design advancements inside and out.

The subtle exterior refresh gives the XC90 a new grille, headlights, and bumpers. Overall, it reinforces the SUV’s confident look while also gives a nod to elements found in Volvo’s fully-electric cars. Inside, it receives a large central touchscreen with higher resolution graphics with capability for OTA updates. The dashboard also happens to incorporate strong Scandinavian design with more horizontal shapes than before, and decorative panels made of recycled materials. The redesign also frees up more storage spaces as well.

Globally, the XC90 is available either in hybrid or plug-in hybrid formats. The B5 offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that’s electrically assisted by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and integrated starter generator (ISG). Combined outputs are rated at 250 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the T8 offers a maximum of 455 horsepower (310 horsepower from the 2.0-liter gas engine and 145 horsepower from the electric motor) and 709 Nm of torque (400 Nm from the gas engine and 309 Nm from the electric motor). The T8 also has an all-electric range of up to 71 kilometers thanks to an 18.8 kWh battery.

Now Volvo’s best-selling model ever, the XC60 comes with a more contemporary look headlined by a new air intake, lights, and wheels. Inside, it uses new premium materials and welcomes a larger 11.2-inch free standing central display with 21 percent higher pixel density. Using the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Processor and coming with Google built-in, it operates twice as fast as before. Changes were also done to improve storage with new cup holders and wireless charging location.

In other markets, the XC60 comes with two mild petrol engines—the B5 and B6, and two plug-in hybrid variants, the T6 and T8.

The XC60 B5 offers 250 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque that jumps up to 300 horsepower and 420 Nm in the XC60 B6. The T6, meanwhile offers a combined output of 398 horsepower (253 horsepower from the 2.0-liter gas engine and 145 horsepower from the electric motor) and 659 Nm of torque (309 Nm from the gas engine and 350 Nm from the electric motor). The T8 goes up to 455 horsepower combined and 709 Nm. Both PHEV variants get an 18.8-kWh battery enough for up to 80 kilometers of all-electric range.
