Ford Philippines Continues to Outpace Industry, Sales Up 63 Percent in Best-Ever April Performance

Ford Philippines today reported sales that continued to outpace the overall industry, with retail sales jumping 63 percent year-over-year to 1,101 vehicles.

The strong month represented Ford’s best-ever April performance in the Philippines, and continued the company’s momentum from a record first quarter performance. Ford’s year-to-date retail sales have now risen 82 percent to 3,786 vehicles.

The exceptional April was driven by the best-ever single month of sales for the class-defining all-new Ford Ranger and the popular all-new Ford Explorer SUV.

“Our full Ford lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs is appealing to a wide range of customers, and the recent launch of our range-topping Ranger Wildtrak and upgraded Explorer have really added to our momentum,” said Randy Krieger, president, Ford Philippines.

“Customers are appreciating the unmatched value that our Ford vehicles deliver – from the smart technology, to our focus on fuel efficiency, quality and safety – which is supported by our ongoing commitment to provide the very best customer experience,” added Krieger.

Strong demand for the all-new Ranger pickup helped drive its best-ever month in April with sales of 413 units. Overall sales of the Ranger year-to-date have now reached 1,137 units, making it the company’s best-selling nameplate this year.

In April, Ford expanded the Ranger lineup to ten class-leading variants including the range-topping all-new Ranger Wildtrak at the Manila International Auto Show, plus a number of variants especially suited for fleet customers.

The Ford Explorer also delivered its best-ever single monthly performance in April with sales rising 69 percent year-over-year to123 units. Ford recently upgraded the Explorer lineup in the Philippines with the introduction of the 2.0L Explorer Limited with EcoBoost and 3.5L Explorer Limited Plus, continuing to raise the bar on customer benefits in the mid-sized SUV segment.

Sales of Ford’s cars also delivered strong monthly performances in April, with the segment-leading Ford Fiesta delivering retail sales of 203 units.

Also at the Manila Auto Show, Ford previewed the new Fiesta which features a redesigned exterior boasting a sporty new grille and all-new technologies, including SYNC.

“The Fiesta has been the best-selling hatchback in the Philippines for the last two years, and we expect the launch of the new Fiesta will help further drive its popularity and connect with even more new-to-Ford customers,” explained Krieger.

The best-selling Ford Everest family SUV also delivered a strong performance last month with sales rising 31 percent year-over-year to 147 units.

Demand for the all-new Focus in April helped drive its year-to-date sales up 42 percent to 348 units. The all-new Focus continues to attract many new-to-Ford customers with its segment-first smart technologies, including Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as a class-leading safety package.

The iconic Ford Mustang recorded sales of 14 units for the month, bringing overall customer deliveries since its launch in the Philippines to 217 units.

As sales across its product lineup continue to grow, Ford builds on its commitment to further enhance its customer experience, which includes customer convenience from an even wider network of nationwide coverage.

Ford is on track to open five new full sales and service outlets by June, opening dealerships in Naga, Bohol, Butuan, Ilocos Norte and Manila Bay, helping to expand its network to 35 dealerships this year.
