Nissan Skyline Gets a Smaller, Turbocharged Engine

Unknown to most people, the Nissan Skyline isn’t just the GT-R. It’s actually a family of vehicles including lesser tuned two- and four-door models. Of course, with the R35, Nissan spun the GT-R into a separate line, but it doesn’t mean that the Skyline isn’t getting any turbo love. Nissan Motor Company has finally announced the availability of a new high-power, fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged engine in the Skyline 200GT-t.

Considered as “the next-generation turbo model” hence its model designation, the Skyline 200GT-t features a 211 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with the same performance as a normally-aspirated 2.5-liter engine but with reduced fuel consumption and emissions. Thanks to direct-injection, variable-valve timing, and idle start/stop, the Skyline 200GT-t achieves 13.6 km/L based on Japanese government tests.

In order to keep good feel, the Skyline 200GT-t features an electro-hydraulic power steering. In conjunction with the Direct Adaptive Steering, this model should have enhanced driving performance. The Skyline 200GT-t also offers a Drive Mode Selector which can suit a driver’s preferred driving style.
