Based on the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) plus industry estimates, total automotive industry sales in March have exceeded 39,000, higher than February’s estimated total industry sales of more than 37,700 units. This pegs first quarter total industry performance at around 112,500 unit sold.
Of the total industry March sales figure, CAMPI and TMA members contributed 36,104 units, marking a 0.7 percent increase from February 2026 CAMPI-TMA sales number of 35,842. The rest—roughly 2,896 units come from non-CAMPI and TMA members such as BYD and Geely.

CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza believes this shift has become more pronounced, in light of the state of national energy emergency declared in late March.
“This continues the rising trend we have been observing the past few years. xEV adoption is mainly driven by users' growing understanding and acceptance of electrified technologies. We expect this to grow further because of the country’s need for various energy efficient vehicles,” said Atienza.
“Rising oil prices will surely influence the Filipino motorists driving and vehicle purchase behavior. This will not only accelerate the preference for electrified vehicles but may also highlight the practicality of energy efficient vehicles like smaller and lower displacement cars. The auto industry will evolve based on the market’s requirement,” he added.

Without the likes of BYD, Geely, and GAC, Chinese brands have cornered a 2.9 percent market share of all new vehicles sold during the first quarter of 2026.
Having said that, unconfirmed numbers have BYD, GAC, and Geely selling roughly 2,500 to 3,000 combined units per month. If that were included, Chinese brands would have occupied a 10 to 12 percent share of all new cars sold in the country.
Meanwhile, the sole Vietnamese auto maker, Vinfast has now managed to occupy a 1.13 percent market share after they opted to consolidate all their monthly sales into a single quarter.

The end is near for those Diesel powered ICE vehicles. I can the 2nd hand market will be flooded with Diesel SUV's for sale.
ReplyDeleteEven in the Truck & heavy equipment segment, electric models are slowly being rolled out.
Japanese EV owners, good luck..
ReplyDeleteBecause?
DeleteEV is not that complicated compared to ICE, they know better that Hybrid will be the best seller compared to pure EV.
DeleteThis guy he thinks his BYD and ither chinese crap are the ultimate EV machine.s Let's see a couple of years from now, where his confidence will take him.
DeleteMy, how the fortunes of the diesel pickups and SUVs have turned. Government removed the trucks' utilitarian excise tax exemption then fuel prices almost tripled, affecting both. So now the market is looking at P2 million pickup trucks that need the most expensive fuel to run. Well, it was fun while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteMarch 2026 is a pivotal moment in the auto industry and likely will cause ripples in the months to come. Many among us would like to return to the old normal, but just as covid changed the way we live and work, an energy crisis as acute as this one will change the way we buy energy, including the one that powers our cars.
wow nostradamus in the comment section. ice cars and Japanese brands are still dominant in our country. obviously china cars and ev, phev and hybrid will eventually be seen more because that is technology it evolves. more options better for consumers it depends on the end use which tech to go for. bragging about china cars when they have a very small share of the market is stupid. it is like bragging to your parents about your c- report card at least pasado.
ReplyDeleteNo one has even mentioned Chinese cars in the comments section. What are you even going on about? Crazy. lol
DeleteCheck your Math, 2.7% (even without BYD, Geely, GAC) of Chinese-only market share for 1Q2026 appears to be incorrect.
ReplyDeleteMG alone should be 2%.
Id wager, BYD would’ve sold at least 10K units (or around 10% market share). Geely and GAC combined at 2K
It's 2.9 percent. We were slightly off. 3,085 out of 105,642 units. Add BYD, GAC, and Geely--the non-audited "others" in the industry data of about 3,000 units per month would result in 12,085 units or 12 percent at most.
DeleteYaiks. if you exclude BYD, for years, despite these Chinese brands offering more variety at a lot cheaper prices they only managed to corner low to mid single digit market share.
DeleteThats why if you want to buy (read: bet on) a chinese brand, i’d stick with top 3 (in sales) and backed by parent companies and/or reputable local distributor, brands you think highly likely will survive longer than their warranty period.
Ford is still in the top 10. RG's smear campaign against Ford didn't work. 🤣
DeleteAfter China cars warranty expires many will cry ðŸ˜
ReplyDeleteWow recently introduced BZ4X sold 55 units
ReplyDeleteNever underestimate Toyotards
DeleteNo Urban Cruiser in the 55?
DeleteWhat ford is bev? The Mach e?
ReplyDelete6 Foresters sold is rough.
ReplyDeletePossible first time car buyer here and leaning towards an EV. But based from observation, public charging stations in the metro always have long queues. Most condo dwellers are not allowed to charge their EVs at the premises, and some don't even allow basement parking. We particularly like to own an EV, but are there any quick fixes?
ReplyDeleteIf there is a will, there is a way my friend !
ReplyDeleteIn the late 2010s, before we bought our first ICE car, we made an exhaustive research (based on the past 5-year reviews, videos, owner interviews, maintenance, etc.) to get the best bang for our hard earned bucks.
ReplyDeleteNow doing the same due dilligence for EVs but haven't seen much older reviews so it doesn't give us a good picture to make a decision in the near future.
Hope more EV owners and reputable reviewers would provide more candid, honest inputs. Otherwise, we'd probably continue using our trusty ICE gas crossover for another couple years.
Same here, maybe in 4 - 5 years we will know. Waiting to see someone replace EV batteries after the warranty expires so we will know the real cost of battery replacement. Battery range degradation overtime and resale value. For now I’ll go for 6th generation Toyota HEV to save on fuel costs.
DeleteThat will be a long wait. Recent studies have shown LFP batteries last 18 years. More than the lifetime of the car itself. If you're really interested in EV's, join the online communities (i.e. FB Groups). What you will quickly find out is that everyone who has bought an EV is never going back to ICE or hybrid for their daily driver.
