PIMS 2016: Honda Cars Philippines is Teasing Us with the BR-V

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is teasing everyone as to their pavilion line-up at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show or PIMS. Happening this coming September 14-18, HCPI is designing their display under the theme of “Joyful Future Journeys”. It’s pretty obvious at this point that HCPI will use this opportunity to display new and revamped vehicles for the Philippine market.

Confirmed for display at PIMS is an updated version of the City sub-compact sedan and HR-V as well as the all-new Civic. And while that’s all good news, what about the company’s worst kept secret? You know, the crossover known as the BR-V?

Well, HCPI’s teaser information does mention specifically the unveiling of a “budget-friendly 7-passenger sport utility vehicle” during PIMS. That, ladies and gentlemen, sounds pretty much like the BR-V.

The release goes on, saying, “Developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. in Thailand for the emerging demands of the Asian market, this new and affordable 7-seater SUV will suit the needs of the practical, fun-loving, yet discerning Filipino family.” Again, BR-V.

Finally: “This new SUV exudes a tough and solid exterior design, high ground clearance, sleek roof rails, and stylish alloy wheels. It also has a spacious cabin with seven seats in a 3-row configuration, making it an ideal SUV for active families. Like other Honda products, it will be equipped with high level of safety features.” Most definitely, BR-V.

Oh, and in case the new City, HR-V, and (mostly likely), the BR-V doesn’t catch your fancy, there’s also something called the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 which will also be on display during PIMS.

The Philippine International Motor Show runs from September 14-18, 2016 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

  1. So this is basically a 3rd world car?

    1. "Third world"? Just because it targets the Filipino consumers would justify the use of such phrase? Last time I checked, the use of this phrase had been stopped and was replaced by "developing countries" in describing the Philippines' as one of those nations with a vibrant economy. As a Filipino, I felt insulted with the use of this catch phrase. The BRV though remains to be tested if it could withstand the discerning PH market.

  3. Sigh, just another sporterized station wagon. The critics are right, Honda is just mailing it in. They haven't had an innovative product in ten years (ASIMO does not count!). They're fast becoming the next Toyota but with a higher sticker price and without the market dominance.

  5. If the price is somewhere in the neighborhood of 700k-800k, it will sell like hotcakes. If 900k above, it will sell like memorial plan!

  12. It surely is the BR-V. Checking on Honda's site for the announcement, the press file is named BRV_teaser_web2.jpg

I hope a diesel variant will come but most likely it won't.

  13. expensive? What are the odds of me choosing this over, let's say innova? Let's discuss... For one, the pricing is already a bit off and expensive. For me I'd choose innova, what do you think?

  14. Honda Phils will only sell us gasoline versions of their products. The big reason is.... both Honda Phils and Isuzu Phils are owned by Ayala Corp. They don't want any diesel variants of Honda to compete with diesel vehicles of Isuzu.
