Audi Philippines Launches the Untaggable Q2 (w/ 21 Photos, Specs)

Audi Philippines launched the newest member of the Q family with the first-ever Q2. Built as a premium urban crossover, it fuses Audi’s progressive design with great driving dynamics and high levels of functionality.

The Q2 is the smallest crossover from the Ingolstadt-based automaker. With an overall length at just 4.19 meters (wheelbase is 2.6 meters) and 1.79 meters in width, the Q2’s packaging is perfect for dicing around in urban areas. However, it manages to look every bit an Audi will all of the design trademarks intact including the large Singleframe Grille and LED headlights with dynamic turn signals. Further accentuating the Q2 as a fun-loving vehicle, the roof is made to merge with the C-pillar with color offset blades making it even more attractive. The Launch Edition of the Q2 also benefits from generous 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/50 R 18 tires (regular units run with 215/55 R 17 tires).

Inside, the Q2 offers a raised driving position. Together with the short overhangs and simple cabin layout, it ensures excellent outward visibility at all times. Front and center is Audi’s venerated Multi Media Interface (MMI). With a floating screen measuring 5.8 inches, it allows access to various vehicle systems quickly and easily. Leather seats, aluminum inlays, deluxe air conditioning system, and an auto dimming rear view mirror are just some of the standard features. The Launch Edition adds Virtual Cockpit, GPS navigation, and interior ambient lighting as well.

Dynamically, Audi likens the Q2 more to a sporty hatchback than a crossover. Borrowing the S3 sport sedan’s steering, the Q2 promises quick and precise steering. Along with a firmly tuned chassis, helped by the wide tracks, it should offer a level of agility never before experienced in this class.

Together with its surprising on-road dynamics, the Q2 receives a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine. Infused with direct injection technology and turbocharging, it pushes out a healthy 116 horsepower at 5,000-5,500 rpm and 200 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 3,500 rpm. Mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch automatic, 100 km/h comes in 10 seconds and the top speed is at 197 km/h. Furthermore, this Euro 6 emissions compliant vehicle can go up to 25.5 km/L.

Audi Philippines Head Benedicto Coyiuto said, “Audi is venturing into a new market segment with the new Audi Q2, bringing top technologies into the smallest member of its Q family. Whether it is used for an off-road adventure or for everyday driving in the city the Q2 is the all-around vehicle, with youthful and provocative design and high-tech equipment.”

The Audi Q2 is now available in 6 colors: Mythos Black, Glacier White, Quantum Gray, Tango Red, Vegas Yellow, and Coral Orange. Prices start at P 2,780,000. A more feature packed S Line is also available at P 2,990,000.
