Mazda is Developing Its Own Family of Inline-6 Engines
It looks like Mazda is going to defy convention once again and while they’re at it, they’ll be raising their middle finger to the likes of Toyota. After Toyota resorted to using a BMW engine for its venerable Supra sportscar (because an in-house inline-6 would have been a nightmare to produce), little automaker Mazda has confirmed that they’re making their very own inline-6 engine and get this, it’ll come in both diesel and gasoline flavors.

We Drove the 2020 Mazda3 1.5 Elite Back-to-Back with the Honda Civic 1.8 E
Mazda isn’t hiding the fact that they think majority of Mazda3 buyers will go straight for the 2.0 Premium models. With that, it comes as no surprise that the entry-level 1.5 Elite doesn’t see as much coverage as its sexier top-trim sibling. But leave it to the guys at Mazda Philippines to bring a base 1.5 Elite sedan along for this road trip; and they even brought some good company: the Honda Civic 1.8 E.

This model is more than two years in the making. After “slipping out” during the press con at the CX-5’s Malaysian plant assembly roll out in 2017, people thought that the three-row Mazda CX-8 was sure to join the line-up in 2018. Then, nothing. Enter the first nine months of 2019, and still nothing. And then, it just happened. It rolled out of the assembly plant in October and now, here it is. MIAS 2015: The 2015 Mazda Collection Impresses
Mazda Philippines’s sprawling and intimidating 1,000 square-meter space at the Manila International Auto Show is a strong show of force and for very good reason. Just last year, Mazda achieved a milestone with overall sales almost doubling that of 2013. The end tally shows them selling more than 3,200 units overtaking Subaru in the process. Of course, the giant showcase isn’t just for celebration. They’ve used the occasion to strategically launch 13 all-new or significantly updated new models for 2015. In short, if you’re buying a car that’s not a Mazda, you better hold off that purchase.

2019 Honda CR-V SX Diesel AWD vs 2019 Mazda CX-5 AWD Skyactiv-D
It’s a rare treat to be able to drive two vehicles of the same class for a classic head-to-head comparo. Thanks to the popularity of mid-sized SUVs, the Honda CR-V and the Mazda CX-5 both are leftfield choices for buyers who prefer comfort and refinement above all else. With both of these choices equipped with a diesel powertrain and all-wheel drive, can Honda, the childhood favorite successfully take on Mazda, one of the segment’s best? Read on.

Review: 2020 Mazda2 1.5 Elite Sedan
In case you missed it, Mazda has been undergoing a premium transformation. While the movement is still anchored pretty much on their award-winning design, they’ve also managed to level up in terms of trim and standard equipment. Having said that, a handful of their cars got stuck in no land’s land—neither premium nor affordable. One such vehicle is the 2020 Mazda2.

2017 Honda HR-V EL vs 2017 Mazda CX-3 Sport 2WD
Objectively, Honda created the sub-compact crossover segment in the Philippines back in 1999. At first, buyers didn’t warm up to something smaller than a compact crossover, but fast forward to today and they’re considered vogue. They’re a foil to the diesel-powered SUVs, providing more style, driving fun, and urban maneuverability while still giving that added ground clearance that people crave nowadays. More than anything, they’re now seen as the compact sedan’s more fashionable alternative. And while you can buy a Honda Civic or Mazda3 for this sort of money, one can argue that going for either HR-V and the CX-3 is a visible sign that you’ve finally made it. The question is: which one is the fashion leader and which is the fashion follower?
