In a nail-biting vote-counting ceremony that saw the lead change three times between the Volvo XC60, BMW 5 Series, and Toyota Camry, the Swedish crossover pulled away in the closing moments to poll 294 votes and clinch the 2018 Japan Car of the Year. The XC60 finished some 52 votes clear of the strong finishing 5 Series and 62 ahead of the closest Japanese competitor, Toyota’s Camry.

TMP Tech Continues to Produce Highly Skilled Technicians for Auto Workforce

Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech), a premier technical school in Laguna envisioned as a source of quality service technicians, recently held its 5th Commencement Exercises for 75 new graduates under the school’s flagship two-year Toyota General Job (GJ) Automotive Servicing Course. These young Filipino automotive technicians are among TMP Tech’s 710 total graduates since the school started operations in 2013.

With the finalization of the bicameral version of the TRAIN or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Bill, it’s now heading to the Malacañang Palace for the President’s approval. Once signed into law, this sets into motion a comprehensive change to the country’s taxation structure, including one that governs new vehicles.

It looks like the Senate and the House of Representatives were able to reach a compromise. Rallying before they adjourn for a Christmas break starting on December 15, the bicameral committee reached an agreement to finalize the TRAIN or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion.
