2019 Nissan Terra: This Is It (w/ 4 Photos, Video)

Nissan has finally (and officially) pulled the wraps off its 7-seater Navara SUV. Called the Terra, it’s the first-ever vehicle from Nissan’s frame and LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) division to launch under the company’s mid-term Nissan M.O.V.E. 2022. It premieres first in China this April.

Seeing a continuous rise in their frame and LCV business unit (one out of every six Nissan vehicles sold globally is a frame-based vehicle or LCV), Nissan is focused on capturing this division’s full potential. By 2022, they see sales rising more than 40 percent making them a global leader in pickup trucks and frame-based SUVs.

“I’m very pleased to announce that the all-new Nissan Terra will soon arrive in China,” said Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president for Nissan’s frame and LCV business. “This rugged SUV is practical, authentic, and designed to go anywhere. The Nissan Terra goes on sale this spring, first in China, with other Asian markets soon to follow.”

He added: “Nissan’s frame and LCV business is seeing steady growth, and with our ambitious midterm plan and growing product lineup, we’re confident that this growth will continue. It is an exciting time for Nissan. We have the Nissan Terra arriving soon, the award-winning Nissan Navara is now in 133 markets worldwide, and more drivers are purchasing our LCVs around the world.”

More details of the Nissan Terra will be available by April, but based on these official photos, the Navara-based Terra features a unique front clip that mixes a bit of Navara with X-TRAIL. The headlight are much sharper and angular and feature the brand’s unique boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights.

No word on the Terra’s mechanicals, but a safe bet would have it running on a multi-link coil spring suspension shared with Nissan’s smooth-riding pickup truck. It will likely have the same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque as well as the 7-speed automatic transmission. From the looks of it, it will run on an 18-inch wheel and tire package.

Inside, the Terra does have an interior unique to it. The single official photo shows a leather-clad interior, a large LCD screen sandwiched by traditional round gauges, and a larger infotainment screen at the center. It also appears to have an automatic climate control system as well.

    2. What? I just said that it looks ugly, but I might still buy it if it offers good features like its updated truck sibling. I know I am not important, because I am a VIP, hahaha!!!

  8. The style looks old, they should have designed a much different style for it from their pick up like the Fortuner to the HiLux.
This one looks so much like the Navara which is getting old. Bad idea, bad timing. That's always Nissan... and mustard color paint? really?

  9. The interior looks pretty dated and not so upscale, similar to the MU-X.

  11. This place is a gem in this wasteland of small bars. Came to Los Angeles event venues on a Saturday night around 9:30, not too crowded at that time. Ordered 2 beers and fries and the total was around $16.
