Meet The Philippines' Most Affordable Hybrid SUV: The Chery Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid

After its preview at the Manila International Auto Show and the subsequent arrival of its first batch of units, it’s now official: Chery Auto Philippines is launching the new Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid on July 27.

Ahead of its official Philippine debut, Chery the full specs of the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid which will cost P 1,140,000.

The Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid gets the “Pro” family look for 2024. This would mean sporting the diamond-shaped “shining” front grille at the front. Now, this serves not just an aesthetic purpose, but it also improves heat dissipation compared to the non-Pro 5x.

Flanking the new grille are LED headlights which offer 2.7 times better illumination than the previous halogen headlights. Other new exterior features include the G-type dynamic double-row LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a revised LED taillight cluster.

At the heart of the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid is a 48-volt mild-hybrid system paired to a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (E4T15C). Combined, it generates a healthy 154 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. This is paired to a smooth-shifting 9-speed CVT. Zero to 100 km/h is quoted at 8.8 seconds.

The thermal efficiency of the engine itself is a staggering 37.1 percent. But combine that with the highly efficient CVT (92.5 percent transmission efficiency), and the 48-volt belt starter generator, Chery says the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid can do up to 14.49 km/L.

Built on a high-strength platform, the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid adds an independent rear suspension for improved road holding and comfort.

Sporting the longest wheelbase in its class (2,630 mm), the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid has excellent interior space. Even better, there are 34 storage spaces scattered throughout.

The driver is greeted by a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat and a 7-inch full-color LCD display. At the center is a high-resolution 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also serves as the screen to the 360-degree panoramic view camera. Other key features include automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a push-button engine start-stop, wireless charging, synthetic leather seats, and a sunroof.

For safety, the Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid is equipped with an electronic parking brake with auto hold, tire pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, and a Bosch 9.3 electronic stability program with 10 built-in functionalities. This is on top of 6 SRS airbags and ABS with EBD.

The Tiggo 5x Pro Hybrid is now open for reservations at all authorized Chery Auto dealerships nationwide. A non-hybrid model—the 5x Pro is also on offer for P 940,000.

    1. Only noobs buy chinese cars. Noobs who do not know what buying chinese cars entail! Chinese companies are targeting and preying on ignorant/newbie buyers!

    2. @Annoymous TBH, I don't think so that Chinese cars are still bad as they were 2 decades ago since they evolved over time and to be fair, I sat in one MG vehicle that was on display in my local mall and I have to say the quality of it has improved and some manufacturers incorporate DCTs or CVTs in their vehicles and they have better infotainment system and the specs are good at least. Though the best Chinese car IMO is the Geely Coolray. Not all noobs buy Chinese cars as there are people buying Chinese cars also since they usually make researches before getting one.

    3. Noobs think doing online research is sufficient in knowing what buying chinese cars entail. Compare that to years of experience of car enthusiasts. That is why no car enthusiasts buy chinese cars.

    4. That's a very narrow way of thinking, Chinese vehicles are now just as good or even better than cars from Europe. China is the most technologically advanced country in the world and the use of technology in their vehicles is turning them in to motor industry giants. That's why the TESLA is building their cars there.

    5. Most filipino car buyers are not rich, so we cannot blame them if they spend dear hard earned money on established brands that thru the decades has already proven dear reliability/durability.

    6. I guess that's why Tesla cars are notroiously unreliable.

    7. Kia and hyundai are know to have lot of problems with engine and transmission. Nissan is well know for his problem with cvt transmission, Peugeot are shitty cars. BMW is know to have lot of problems with engine (chain). You can also add Ford, Tesla, VW ... and lot more in the list so chinese cars are not worse than other car with more famous brand

  7. Madali mag comment ng negatibo pero pag labasan na ng bulsa for sure malaki kakainin nito sa ph market prang geely at mg dahil affordable prang cellphone nlng kotse ngaun. after 5-10yrs palit ka ganun tlga ang kotse mga enthusiast lang kuno papauto sa made in Japan kuno pero kamay ng Thailand at Indonesian naman tlga manufactured dahil Subaru Mazda nlng tlga legit na made in Japan na 2-4M+ which is di affordable sa average Pinoy buyers.

    1. Chinese engineered pa rin yan. Yung iba na japanese brand made in thailand nga pero japanese engineered naman. Hindi bulok in short.

  8. Great price for its specs. The front looks too soft, though. Perhaps because of the baby blue colored body? I won't mind that it's a Chery; the brand seems to be real serious in moving away from the QQ days. Will this be coding-exempt? If yes, good choice for 1-car owners on a budget.
