One of 750 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS 50 Years Porsche Design Edition Arrives In Manila

Porsche is a brand that is known for timeless, contemporary designs and superior, unparalleled performance. In its 75th year, Porsche has collaborated with some the world’s most creative artists and builders to create the most unique cars that the world has seen. In the Philippines, PGA Cars, the country’s exclusive distributor, has introduced one of the most highly collectible models — the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS 50 Years Porsche Design Edition.

Presented in conjunction with the 27th anniversary of Porsche Philippines, the exclusive 911 was unveiled with a special art exhibit that is in collaboration with the Imahica Art Gallery. Imahica is one of the newest galleries in Metro Manila that is devoted to exhibiting the best in contemporary art by featuring the initiatives of visual artists from diverse creative fields. This collaboration is a live synergistic approach of presenting Porsche as a classic artful canvas that has been its mark for generations over.

The Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS 50 Years Porsche Design Edition is one that pays homage to the iconic designs of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, with bespoke elements that are based off the distinct GTS models that are considered the purists in the Porsche family. It is visually distinctive, yet powerful and dynamic. In fact, this commemorative 911 Targa 4 GTS references F.A. Porsche’s signature found on the first Porsche Design product, the 1972 Chronograph I wristwatch.

The 911 Targa 4 GTS anniversary edition is a modern take on a beloved, old-world classic. Its exterior body is painted in a signature black with platinum accents, which elevates the paintwork more than standard chrome. The Targa bar is finished in satin platinum with special livery adornments. The brake calipers are painted in high-gloss black as part of the standard Sports Design package, with an exclusive badge on the slats of the rear lid grille and a black 911 logo on the rear apron. The car sits on the same 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) wheels as seen on the 911 Turbo S, also in satin platinum that is brightened by colored Porsche crests on the hub covers of the center locks.

Porsche is known for leaving nothing to chance when it comes to the details that define its luxury branding. The interior of the 911 Targa 4 GTS anniversary model is inspired by the iconic product designs of F.A. Porsche. The most notable is how the Sport Chrono Package with the Porsche Design Subsecond dashboard clock is now fitted as a standard. The second hand has been painted red, which is a characteristic that is shared with the Chronograph I wristwatch.

Another special feature is the Silver 911 badge with a limited-edition number on the dashboard trim and the F.A. Porsche signature embossed on the lid of the center console storage compartment.

On the other hand, the sporty, premium leather seats are designed with headrests that are embossed with “Porsche Design 50th Anniversary” emblems — the same details that are found on the black, brushed aluminum door entry guards. Similar to the seatbelts, the leather-bound GT sports steering wheel has the 12 o’ clock marking in Slate Grey.

But when we say Porsche, we also speak of superior on-and-off track performance, one that delivers exceptional thrill whenever we get behind the wheel. The 911 Targa 4 GTS anniversary edition is no different, as it carries the same signature driving technology that is expected of every Porsche.

Under the hood is a turbo-charged 3.0-liter, flat-six engine mated to an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission that delivers 480 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. The suspension is derived from the 911 Turbo that has been modified for the GTS. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) ensures that the dampers respond to dynamic changes at lightning speed and meets exacting performance demands.

Porsche has also recalibrated the 911 Targa 4 GTS’s stopping power by using the same high-performance braking system from the 911 Turbo. The standard sports exhaust system produces a more emotive experience, with bespoke GTS tuning and omissions of some insulation from the cabin.

The solitary Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS 50th Years Porsche Design Edition that arrived in Manila has been sold. It is available for viewing, until the owner takes delivery, at the Porsche Showroom in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
