Subaru BRZ Gets Tuned By STI Treatment

Subaru has given its BRZ sportscar the “tuned by STI” treatment and better still, it’s no longer a Japan market exclusive.

The 2024 Subaru BRZ tS offers handling-centric upgrades to the rear-wheel drive sportscar. Everything starts with STI-tuned Hitachi dampers that’s designed to “maximize its lightweight, ultra-low center of gravity and precision handling.” It adds gold-painted 4-piston front and 2-piston rear Brembo brakes for enhanced stopping power, fade resistance, and pedal feel.

Externally, the BRZ tS is distinguished by its “tS” badging in the front grille and rear decklid. The side mirrors and shark-fin antenna are also painted in Crystal Black Silica.

Inside, the BRZ tS offers contrasting blue stitching to the front sport bucket seats, steering wheel, shifter boot, and parking brake boot. The STI logo meanwhile is displayed on the red starter button and the 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The cluster also receives red accents.

Engine-wise, the BRZ tS retains the use of its normally-aspirated 2.4-liter boxer making 228 horsepower (in the US) and 250 Nm of torque. The exclusive transmission is a 6-speed manual that also gets a Torsen limited slip differential.

As for the rest of the Subaru BRZ line, the manual-equipped versions now get the EyeSight driver assist technology. This means all BRZs, regardless of transmission, now get Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking System, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

  1. "it’s no longer a Japan market exclusive" been like that since 2018 when Subaru introduced the 1st gen BRZ tS to the North American market

    1. Apologies for that. You're right. It was a limited-edition model though back in 2018. Now it seems it'll be a serial production model.

  2. Has the silicone RTV gasket issue been fixed?
