There are those who like flaunting their success with outward displays of wealth, while there are others who are equally successful but prefer not to attract any attention. Among the pickup trucks available in the market today, the one that perfectly fits the latter’s description is the Isuzu D-Max. It may not have the same headline grabbing power as some of the other choices out there, but it doesn’t mean it’s less capable. Battle Hardened Warrior: Off-Roading with the Isuzu D-Max

The local pickup truck segment is tightening and the one that’s starting to feel the pinch is long-time leader, Isuzu. For years, the D-Max has enjoyed brisk sales, but the increased competition from within the segment has caused its sales to plateau in recent months. Knowing quite well its importance to its line-up, the D-Max had to learn to sing a different tune from the “dependable workhorse” formula it has known from Day One. Earlier this year, Isuzu has done just that. They introduced the 2015 version of the D-Max, a timely upgrade that the company hopes will lure weekend warriors and lifestyle-oriented buyers to join the long list of satisfied Isuzu customers.

Terrain Conquered: Isuzu D-Max LS 4x4 Visits Ilocos Norte

Photos by Ulysses Ang
Staring out into the distance, the landscape looks hot and barren as far as the eye can see. Amidst the midday sun, it sears the retina with an almost blinding effect. It’s a scene seemingly lifted straight out of the desert planet of Tatooine in Star Wars or Arrakis from Dune. It looks a desolate, foreboding place until your ears pick up the faint hint of an engine at full throttle; and before you know it, a mechanical beast comes into full view, drifting into a 180-degree spin, kicking up the powdery fine sand into the dry, arid air. This is no alien planet; this is the Paoay sand dunes, the personal playground of the Isuzu D-Max.
