LTO Just Made Modifying Your Vehicle a Lot Harder
The LTO, various off-road clubs, and 4x4 enthusiasts held a dialogue to flesh out what the government agency calls the “arbitrary and subjectively apprehending of modified vehicles.” To this end, the LTO clarifies that they are not arbitrarily and subjectively apprehending owners of modified vehicles. However, this will not stop them from implementing an existing law.

The LTO Doesn't Know Cars and That's a Problem
The LTO just opened a can of worms. After a crackdown on modified 4x4s (and the resulting backlash on social media), they’ve doubled down and said that they’re doing this in the interest of safety. And while they can cling on legal basis for their actions, they also know jack shit about cars and that’s going to cost you.

Non-Euro 4 Vehicles Get New Registration Reprieve
Buyers in the market for a new non-Euro 4 emissions compliant vehicle just got a bit of a reprieve. After the DENR set a December 31, 2017 deadline for the initial (new) registration of non-Euro 4 compliant vehicles, the LTO has issued a Memorandum Circular that allows the registration of non-compliant vehicles under one specific clause.

DENR Reminds Car Buyers: Only Euro 4 Vehicles Allowed to be Registered by 2018
Interested in getting a new Isuzu mu-X or D-Max or Mitsubishi L300 or Adventure? Better get them now. Apart from the looming excise tax increase, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has set a December 31, 2017 deadline for the initial (new car) registration of these vehicles and other non-Euro 4 compliant vehicles in the country.

LTO and EV Group Thresh Out Registration and Regulation Issues

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a new memorandum dated February 23, 2017. This new memorandum, which was made available to us, deals with the standardized temporary plates as well as the No OR/CR, No Travel policy.

LTO Suspends No OR/CR, No Travel
UPDATE 1: And now, LTO is reiterating the No OR/CR, No Travel once more. (3/8).
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has deferred the implementation of the No OR/CR, No Travel Policy for 3 months (90 days) effective today (but there is a catch) . This agreement was reached from a meeting chaired by LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante with vehicle dealers.

Plate or no plate, standardized temporary plate or not, the Land Transportation Office or LTO is planning to implement the penalties prescribed in Republic Act 4136 otherwise known as the Traffic Code of the Philippines, particularly the fine for operating an unregistered vehicle. And while everything seems rosy if you talk to the LTO itself, the situation on the street is very different. In fact, there’s a very big problem. And it will affect your car buying experience; perhaps even more than the impending excise tax increase.

It seems that the Land Transportation Office or LTO is raising the white flag when it comes to the issuance of vehicle license plates; you know, the metallic kind? Stating the “Land Transportation and Traffic Code” of the Philippines, the LTO is issuing new and very specific guidelines covering the use of conduction stickers in lieu of license plates effective today, February 15, 2017.

LTO to Implement DIY Registration for Motor Vehicles
The Land Transportation Office or LTO just signed Administrative Order 2017-035 which aims to streamline the car registration process by allowing dealers to report motor vehicle sales via a “Do-It-Yourself” or DIY system.
