Once the family grows in number and can’t be accommodated by regular sedans (or crossovers for that matter), Daddy has to immediately consider getting something that seats seven. Once or twice though, a carmaker comes out with an offering that manages to address all the requirements of a typical family car without sacrificing the bits that made Daddy love driving in the first place. Readying its assault in the growing sub-compact crossover segment, Honda finally pulled the wraps off the Jazz-based HR-V at the 31st Bangkok Motor Expo 2014. Dubbed the “Premium Sport Crossover”, the HR-V gets a unique powertrain configuration for the Thai market which will most likely be carried over to the rest of the ASEAN region.

If you hadn’t read my previous stories on the Honda Jazz, Mobilio, Brio, and CR-V, I grew up in a Honda-driving family. I practically knew what to expect with the arrival of each test drive unit. However, the one I was most impressed with was the 2018 Honda Jazz. That being said, I had high hopes for the City Hatchback, if only because I wanted it to prove all the doubting Thomases wrong for ever questioning its worthiness as the successor of the beloved Jazz.
