Suzuki Philippines Launches Ertiga (w/ Specs)

Barely a monthly after introducing the Swift 1.2 hatchback, Suzuki Philippines has unveiled yet another addition to their growing automobile line-up: the Ertiga. Dubbed as a “Lifestyle Utility Vehicle” or LUV for short, the Ertiga takes a completely different approach to the very competitive but lucrative compact 7-seater MPV or multi-purpose utility vehicle market.

Instead of relying on the traditional ladder-on-frame construction, the Suzuki Ertiga gets a unibody monocoque platform for unparalleled car-like comfort and refinement. And Suzuki isn’t just using any platform; it’s using the award-winning Swift platform ensuring that the Ertiga is imbued with the same fun-to-drive characteristics as its venerable hatchback. Despite extending the wheelbase to 2,740 millimeters, the versatile platform promises uncompromised maneuverability and agility—important attributes when dealing with Metro Manila’s day-to-day traffic.

Under the Ertiga’s hood resides the proven 1.4-liter K-Series engine that produces a maximum power output of 95 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Proven already in the Swift, the 1.4-liter K14B engine is renowned for its broad power band and low maintenance cost. Although the power figures seem modest, thanks to the lightweight unibody construction (maximum curb weight is at 1,190 kilograms), the Ertiga promises up to 16.02 km/L based on Suzuki’s internal tests.

Carrying Suzuki’s new global design identity, the Ertiga features a striking fascia with large headlights and a two-piece grille. At the side, the body lines flow naturally into an aerodynamic shape which connects to the large tailgate and expressive taillights. The range-topping GLX variant adds a bit more flair with turn signal lamps mounted in the side mirrors and front fog lamps as standard equipment.

Inside, the Ertiga shows off an elegant two-tone cabin that’s homey and family-friendly. It’s also mighty versatile that allows seating up to seven people while still having 113 liters of luggage space. Transforming the Ertiga into a spacious five-seater, the luggage space grows to 460 liters. This figure almost doubles to 810 liters with the second and third row seats folded. Adding even more flexibility, the second row actually slides front and back and even folds in a 60/40 split. The Ertiga also comes with a wide array of available creature comfort features ranging from rear air conditioning to an integrated audio system with steering wheel controls to an on-board computer that measures instantaneous and average fuel consumption.

Being a family-oriented vehicle, the Ertiga takes safety seriously. It uses high-tensile steel in strategic sections of the body structure for excellent crash safety while keeping the weight down. And on all but the base GA model, the Ertiga comes standard with dual SRS airbags and anti-lock brakes.

“The all-new Ertiga is another testament to Suzuki’s renowned engineering leadership and legacy in manufacturing compact cars. We are bringing in the all-new Ertiga as our latest entry in the MPV segment and we are confident our latest offering will meet, and even exceed, the expectations of our customers. We have carefully combined the best characteristics of a compact car and an MPV to create a very competitively-priced Life Utility Vehicle that is set to be the new standard in this category,” said Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, Suzuki Philippines President.

Suzuki is offering the Ertiga range locally in four variants: the Ertiga GA M/T (Php 619,000), GL M/T (Php 712,000), GL A/T (Php 752,000), and GLX A/T (Php 812,000). Ertiga is available in Serene Blue, Firebrick Red, Granite Grey, Silky Silver, Superior White, and Dusky Brown colors.

  3. I wish Suzuki would price the GLX lower. Php60,000 more than the GL/AT and you only get keyless entry, fuel estimator, steering wheel- mounted audio controls (hardly useful for most folks especially if you have a driver), and power door locks (this feature should be standard in all but the lowest trim levels anyway). I think the GLX should be less than Php800,000. If Suzuki priced it properly it could really be an irresistible deal.

    1. we get the GL then added the keyless entry installation on GL for only PHP 8k.

    1. I drove my ertiga from Alabang, Sucat, Tagaytay and back to Sucat on the very first day I got it from the dealer.
Akala ko sira yung fuel gauge ko kasi kurot lang ang binawas nya. But I found out ganun pala talaga sya katipid. Before kasi lumang car ang gamit namin. Siguro hindi lang ako sanay na ganun katipid yung car na gamit ko.

Also nag pa-gas ako ng 500 last Monday evening. Drove it daily from Sucat-BGC vise versa. My 500 went on for 3 days.
Its a more or less 90km for a P500 gas consumption including light to heavy traffic.

      Hope this info can help

    4. Hi bryan, anong variant sau? Im planning to get gl mt. Sa cavite p ksi ako galing taz work ako bgc. Im considering this and nalungkot ako ng makita ko na nsa 10km/l lng fc nya. But ur experience says otherwise so im considering this again over mirage g4. Sna ok tlga! :)

    5. Hi @bingkong mine is glx variant. With regards to the fc. It will really defend on your regular point of origin. It will never be exact value since napaka traffic dito sa pinas. I guess to really feel the fc you should use it on a long ride with less to no traffic at all.

On our average ride to work one full tank will last up to 2 weeks. Parañaque bgc vise versa.

    7. Hey sup guys just wanna share this..
i bought my Ertiga ng 2014 and now i still have it.
The like of me for this car:
      -fuel efficient sya
-silent ung engine nya even 120km/ph takbo mo.
      -maganda ung suspension malabot
      -space inside is great
      -breaks are perfect
      -style is good
now. The Dislike of me for this car (for people who are looking for performance)
      -lowered sya
-pushing the car to 6000 rpm for 1st and 2nd, you can smell the burning of engine.
-its has 95hp and maximum of 130 torque, but still slow sya pag nasa speed of 130 kana mabagal na bumaba.

nung nasa cavitex ako going to manila the max speed was 160 and i was surprised at it na ganun lang sya. i also own a Avanza max speed is 180 1.3liter engine.

  14. Ano pros and cons ng ertiga

    ReplyDelete
  15. Based on the post here, mukhang matipid nga ang Ertiga. Avanza AT 1.3 owner here for 2 years and average FC ko in mixed city and highway driving is 9.6Kml.
In 3 years, papalitan ko na itong Avanza AT 1.3 ko. Im planning to replace it with Ertiga kung talagang matipid sya.

  19. We got our Suzuki Ertiga GL last October 2015. We were gonna buy another brand and we chanced upon an Ertiga on the road. We researched and asked around for three months and finally settled on an Ertiga. It's very impressive for its cost, simplicity and it fits our basic needs. We will not sell this car.
Thank you Club Ertiga Philippines for the support and camaraderie!
