BMW Remains Undisputed Philippine Luxury Segment Leader

Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, continues to dominate the Philippine luxury vehicle segment as it reached first half of 2014 with a total of 352 units sold, accounting for a total of 36% over-all market share. BMW’s core model, The 3 Series, is recorded as ACC’s top performer, closely followed by its most popular SAV, The BMW X3, contributing to a 6% increase in total sales compared to the same period last year. This correlates with BMW’s global performance, which saw a 10.2% YTD growth versus last year.

Taking the Philippine market by storm

On the 11th year of BMW’s market leadership, Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC) welcomed 2014 in high spirits with the introduction of the BMW 4 Series Coupé. Equipped with distinctive powerful road presence and stand out dynamic ability, the 4 Series Coupé has redefined the sport coupé segment in the market.

To further assert BMW’s superiority when it comes to executing unmatched JOY, ACC launched the third generation of the world’s most successful Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) last April. The All-New BMW X5 sets the benchmark for powerful design, comfort, luxury, and unmatched driving pleasure. From the time it reached Philippine shores, the latest CAMPI reports show The All-New BMW X5 dominating the premium full-size SUV subsegment.

Opening the gateway to a world of JOY, ACC staged the first-ever dealer-based BMW XPO: Pit Stop. Held in June in all BMW dealerships nationwide, the XPO gave visitors a chance to experience sheer driving pleasure through test drive of the latest BMW models. Special deals and packages on brand new and certified pre-owned vehicles were also made available to customers throughout the month. As a special treat to buyers of brand new vehicles, ACC raffled off to 10 lucky winners an all-expense paid trip to Singapore to be part of BMW World 2014. To be held on August 1-3 at the Marina Bay Sands, the BMW World is set to be the largest automotive group showcase in Asia, featuring the latest in innovation, design and luxury from the BMW Group.

Paving the way for the future of mobility

Being a technology leader, BMW closely looks into the ASEAN region to promote sustainable mobility. Dr. Kay Segler, BMW AG SVP for Special Projects – ASIA and Mr. Sergio Solero, BMW Asia President, paid the Philippines an important visit to spearhead discussions on BMW’s thrust for sustainable mobility and its expansion initiatives for the coming years.

The visit held last month opens up the discussion for the Philippines to be considered a significant player in the regional automotive industry. Given that the country has been recently identified as a fast-emerging economy, implementing proper government policies will be key in making the Philippines become once again a viable option as a production hub for car manufacturers and suppliers.

Strengthened Partnership with the Philippine Government

As an automotive industry leader in the Philippines, BMW played a vital role during the 23rd World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEF-EA) held early this year. The Philippine government appointed BMW as the official premium vehicle partner for this special global gathering. A fleet of its flagship model, The BMW 7 Series, was used to transport the heads of state and government leaders from across Asia during the said global forum.

Sustaining leadership in the Philippine luxury segment 

BMW continues to spread JOY in 2014 through the product launches and activities lined up for the rest of the year. This month, BMW once again surpasses its own benchmarks in innovation with the launch of the first-ever BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. This latest offering from BMW combines the sleek look of a sport coupé with the functionality provided by four-doors. It is the second model to join the BMW 4 Series range, along with the BMW 4 Series Coupé.

ACC also officially introduces the new BMW 5 Series. With a host of innovations designed to further enhance a luxurious driving experience, the new BMW 5 Series raises the bar for the premium executive sedan segment. Now available in two new design characters: Modern Line and Luxury Line, the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, offers a distinct set of design features that suits the preference of the most discerning customers.
