Honda Cars Philippines Updates CR-V for 2015

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines surprises the market once more as they uncover their New CR-V at Enderun Tent, McKinley Hill. The event marks HCPI’s 7th newest offering for the Philippine Market, following the Accord, City, Jazz, Brio, Brio Amaze and the Civic.

The Honda CR-V prides itself as being one of the pioneer models which created a new category of vehicles that can be used comfortably and freely in a wide range of situations and can be used in both urban and recreation driving. Since then, Honda has further improved the CR-V to top its previous generations.

Now on its fourth generation, the New CR-V unveiled by HCPI was developed under the “Value Up CR-V Concept”. The development team who worked on the New CR-V improved the synergy of three main ideas – efficiency, functionality and confidence which were translated to a vehicle that has the feeling and efficiency of a passenger car, the functionality of a minivan and the security and confidence of an SUV.

To ably go well with various lifestyles and keep up with the demands of modern living, the New CR-V is available in both 2.4 and 2.0 liter i-VTEC engine displacements mated to either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.4 liter engine is capable to deliver maximum power output of 185 horsepower at 7,000 rpm for the 2.4 liter variant and 153 horsepower at 6,500 rpm for the 2.0 liter engine. In addition, the New CR-V is now equipped with paddle shift technology that delivers superb driving convenience of a manual transmission. Further, should one opt for a more fuel-efficient drive, all variants of the New CR-V are equipped with the Eco Assist System and Eco Coaching Ambient Meter that promote and encourage a more fuel efficient driving habit.

The New CR-V presents itself with sleeker and more masculine exterior design with new front and rear bumper garnish, prominent front grille, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and a redesigned sporty 17-inch alloy wheel. Its new styling blends perfectly with the New CR-V’s over-all premium finish for a more refined yet tougher look.

Matching the New CR-V’s bold exterior is an interior that offers an impression of sophistication and modern appeal; with black interior toned with plush leather seats, a driver seat that has lumbar support and can be electronically adjusted in 8 ways, smart entry with push start system and incorporation of new innovative on-board infotainment system. The New CR-V features two colored screens that enhance the overall user experience - the intelligent Multi Information Display (i-MID) which shows information such as fuel consumption, trip computer and Honda’s intuitive 7-inch touch screen display audio and this time coupled with a built-in navigation system.

These screens work hand in hand to operate the hands-free telephone function and audio streaming via Bluetooth connectivity, promoting safety and convenience. The i-MID and touch screen display audio can also be controlled easily via the controls mounted on the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Furthermore, to be able to take full advantage of the display audio unit, the New CR-V is equipped with various useful ports such as USB and the new HDMI port which allows smartphone connection and/or mirroring on the display audio screen.

As always, Honda is always committed to bring new values and innovation to its products for its most valued customers. The New CR-V is the first-ever Honda vehicle available locally to be equipped with Honda’s exclusive safety technology, LaneWatch. A tiny camera located on the passenger-side mirror can be manually or automatically activated when you signal right. A live video displays on the Display Audio and provides the driver a view almost 4 times greater than using the passenger-side mirror. Blind spots are now a thing of the past with Honda’s patented LaneWatch Technology.

The comprehensive methodology on vehicle safety is furthermore backed up by the New CR-V’s multi-view reverse camera that is capable of displaying in three views (normal, wide, and top down) with dynamic guidelines, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) that automatically flashes the brake and hazard lights when it senses an emergency stop normally during heavy braking situations, driver and passenger SRS airbags, side airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist.

The new 2015 Honda CR-V is available in four variants with the following introductory prices: 2.0 V M/T (P 1,313,000); 2.0 V A/T (P 1,353,000); 2.0 S A/T (P 1,483,000); and 2.4 SX A/T (P 1,673,000). It is available in five colors: Copper Sunset Pearl (2.0 S and 2.4 SX); White Orchid Pearl (2.0 S and 2.4 SX); Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic (2.0 S and 2.0 V); Crystal Black Pearl; and Modern Steel Metallic.

    9. LOL. 3rd world suv daw. Says the guy who worships the shitty mu-x. Do your research kid. It just shows how dumb you really are, can't even distinguish the real facts from his imagination.

    10. Let's respect everyone's preferences. we all have our reasons for picking our cars. me, i drive a kia sorento. for the price of a compact (1.45M), it comes with a great diesel engine (2.2 L, 197 hp, 420 nm), midsize suv space, and crossover comfort. it doesnt look bad either. yes, it's made in korea, but in no way is it a so-called 3rd world suv!

    11. Nakaka hiya kayo. Seriously the only people in the world who make fun of their own people and talk shit so much to each other is the filipino people. But im glad im only half. Di rin ako kano or may dugong kano o lumaki dun like yang mga ibang pull out jan na nag sasabi na "this car is a for a third world country" those are some big words kid. Anyway. Ayan ang nakaka inis sa pilipino 90% of the people show off to and bloat stuff. Specially if they have something of value. Dont tell me its not true. There was a study conducted by certain people i dont know if it was the catholic church or some researchers. Their research shows that people here only want 2 things: power and money. Thats the only thing say see. Dont believe me? Walk in the street of manila any day see and youll see the corruption happening first hand like officials stopping a guy in his car because he has a nice car of course they want some extra cash. Anyway. The filipino people are poor people and i say this not for all filipinos but majority. Usually there are educated filipinos online. Usually. But if you go outside. 90% are retards who want a quick buck or want to show off. Example. My friend her family gets a car. Family across the street get jelous and want one too so they loan and put themselfs in trouble. Another example. In my province if one guy gets new curtens for his house soon youll see the whole neighborhood changed their curtens. Really a lot of times the stupidity amazes me. The bad attitudes too. Right now the majority of filipinos you see in the streets have no ethics mura nalang ng mura at the simplist of things. If their lolas would hear them now baka masapak pa sila ng lola nila.nakaka pagud my God. You guys will never get anywhere without helping each other. Lol the car is great by the way hahahaha ride quality is top notche and it's so silent inside :) i love it :)

  2. I own both a 2.7 Fortuner Gas and a new 2.0 S CR-V. The CR-V is severely underpowered. In the US, they only have the 2.4 engine, and that makes all the difference.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No kidding. A 2.0L carrying that heavy body will strain the engine. 2.4L should be the minimum. I hope honda puts their 3.5L V6 with VCM in the crv.

    2. Isang taong nangagarap mag ka crv. Hahaha! Hey dude i drive also an AUV like your fortuner, as well as everest, and montero. Its da fortuner, gas or turbo diesel, that is so underpowered. The mitsu and ford is even more underpowered. The asian 2.0 crv whether the old k20 or the newer r20 block is sufficient enough for asian roads. I have driven those carabao riding diesel going to sagada, and FAILED. I own though the latest crv only me has so far in the NCR, hehehe.

    3. this crv is so underpowered and a gas guzzler

      Delete
    4. Urur. 160HP pulling a heavy, truck-based, ladder-frame body with an un-aerodynamic profile versus a 150HP pulling a lighter, monocoque chassis with a aerodynamic design? Magbasa ka muna about power-to-weight ratio hunghang kang bongo ka. At least yung CR-V binebenta rin sa Japan at US, hindi tulad ng Fortuner mo na never heard sa home country ng Toyota at sa US.

      Delete
    5. Guys, don't pay too much attention to specs. That's just on paper and a guide so you will know what to expect. More important than horsepower (which by the way is measured differently by each manufacturer AND use different units) is torque. Torque is more relevant in day-to-day usage. The 2.0L CRV never came out in the USA. But the 2TR-FE 2.7L engine of the Fortuner is widely used in base model Tacomas and 4Runners. As a fellow editor, I have driven both CRV variants and of course I prefer the 2.4. The 2.0L CRV LX I tested had 153PS but at a high 6200RPM. SO unless you drive all the time at 6200RPM, you're not going to make use of your 152PS. Just my two-cents worth.

      Delete
    6. Yes torque is a better gauge. A 2.4 or 2.7L engine will of course have more torque than a 2.0L, which in normal everyday street use will be perceived as having more power. And like they say, there is no replacement for displacement (as long as it's a fair naturally aspirated comparison).

      Delete
    7. Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

      Delete
    8. Mga bobo, torque is a unit of force, horsepower is a unit of useful work, or power. Walang kwenta torque mo if its not translated into useful work, dumb4sses. Napaka-simplistic ng pagkakaintindi niyo ng HP at TQ. Hindi niyo ba naiintindihan na one figure is derived from the other, mga bubing. Kaya malaking kahangalan yang maling pagkakaintindi niyong mga hunghang kayo.

      Delete

Gunggong!

      Delete
    13. I tend to agree that horsepower is different from torque. Torque determines pulling power and acceleration- correct! No wonder they're always separate and separate graphs in the brochures. There are high-rev engines that can put out enormous hp, and yet some though lacking in horsepower, make up for power by displacement and brute muscle that gives toque, such as my Nissan Safari. Yes it's for the third world, admittedly, but so what? Where do we all live and use our automobiles? CRV is a very fine small SUV. But for our roads, a ladder frame full size SUV with plenty of torque is more appropriate. Hence the number of Everests, Monteros and Fortuners out there.

      Delete

      Power-to-weight ratios:
      Fortuner 2.7 Gas: 160hp / 1770 kg curb weight = 0.09 hp/kg
      CR-V 2.0L: 153hp / 1469 kg curb weight = 0.104 hp/kg
      CR-V 2.4L: 185hp / 1570 kg curb weight = 0.118 hp/kg

Haha. Mga bubing talaga. Tama lang sa inyo yang Fortuner. A fool and his money are soon parted, ika nga.

    16. 3rd world SUV hater: ikaw na ang magaling. Ikaw na ang mayaman. It's sad that even if you own a so-called 1st world SUV, you have 3rd world manners. You obviously have no breeding. But maybe that's all right. You have your roots in the 3rd world anyway.

      Delete
    17. HP is only useful if you are racing. You cannot utilize your engine's full horsepower in everyday street driving. Torque is a more useful measure. To compare CR-V 2.0S 190nm/1485curb weight = .128. Fortuner 2.7Gas 241nm/1570curb weight = .154. So you see now how the Fortuner has more power. End of story.

      Delete
    18. Isa ka pang bobo. Torque is not a measure of power, it's a a unit of force. Bongo.

  6. It is not underpowered. I have a 2.0 CRV LX and the power is sufficient for both city and highway drives. But then again, I limit my speed to 120, tops. Driving dynamics are pretty good, as well.

Is it a gas guzzler? Not really. I get 6.5-8 km/l in city driving with moderate traffic and in Eco Mode. With the Eco mode on, I get about 6.3- 7 km/l.

One gripe I'm starting to have is that my CRV seems so bare now, compared to this new one.

    4. Thank you for the very educational explanation. But that's just on paper. Question lang sir, do you own a CR-V? If not have you driven one? In the real world, it is really underpowered compared to my Montero Sport and my Everest which has tons more torque and pulling power. And yes my sister has a CR-V 2.0LX and its slow.

    5. HP is only useful if you are racing. You have to fully rev your engine to unleash its full horsepower. You cannot utilize your engine's full horsepower in everyday street driving. Maximum torque is a more useful measure which is achieved in the normal everyday driving RPMs. To compare CR-V 2.0S 190nm/1485curb weight = .128. Fortuner 2.7Gas 241nm/1570curb weight = .154. So you see now how the Fortuner has more power. End of story.

You are seriously getting in the way of level headed, intellectual conversations here.

      Power-to-weight ratios:
      Fortuner 2.7 Gas: 160hp / 1770 kg curb weight = 0.09 hp/kg
      CR-V 2.0L: 153hp / 1469 kg curb weight = 0.104 hp/kg
      CR-V 2.4L: 185hp / 1570 kg curb weight = 0.118 hp/kg

Haha. Mga bubing talaga. Tama lang sa inyo yang Fortuner. A fool and his money are soon parted, ika nga.

    4. Anyone who has a brochure can compute for hp/w ratio and can tell if it's a 4-speed or a 5-speed or a CVT. Elementary. I need to hear relevant feedback from an EXPERIENCED owner!

      Delete

    6. HP is only useful if you are racing and revving your engine beyond 6000RPM. Note that the other third-world diesels have even more torque!

      Delete
    7. Isa ka pang bobo. Torque is not a measure of power, it's a a unit of force. Bongo.

      Delete

  9. Don't listen to the negative feedbacks. The CR-V is the most feature packed and most reliable in its class. Its an overall great car that will give you trouble-free experience.

Those turbo equipped rivals may appear to be better but remember, turbos are more difficult to maintain and may cause more troubles for you when some components break down.

    1. I agree! And it's got the most comfortable, refined and quietest ride in its class. Let's not compare the CRV to the larger SUVs like Everest. It's for a different purpose. It is what it is, and it does its job well.

  10. Wow mag Jazz nalang tayo! 0.114 hp to weight ratio. O kaya mag motor zero to 100kph in 5 seconds lang! I see ganun pala ka halaga power to weight ratio!

  11. I know its an apples to oranges comparison but this CR-V or the Accord? I'm confused right now because I love everything about the new 2.4L Accord and I'm on the verge of going to the dealership to get one but the practical side in me says that the CR-V might be the better choice...

    1. Well that's entirely up to you. Get whatever your heart desires. Though personally, I like the slightly higher stance of the CR-V. It's more practical, depending on it's intended use. I suggest a test drive- don't base your decision on net reviews and brochures. Good luck sir! God bless.

    2. I've decided to go with the TOTL CR-V. Test drove both, and I was surprised that these cars were very light and easy to drive... I was put off by the Accord's ground clearance at only 140 mm. I also considered the CR-V's resale value which will probably be higher than the Accord. I still love the Accord's interior and exterior but I just can't live with its extremely low ground clearance. Will probably get my unit in 2 weeks.

Sa daan pa lang nagkaka-angasan na. I got a Dodge Caliber 2.0 CVT..I know it's not fast. not the most dynamic but it give's me and may family that sense of security and safety especially when we made our long trip from Jeddah to Dubai. Peace to all! Merry Christmas!

Otherwise, maganda itong SUV.
